Ok--before I have always booked w/ the ticketless airfare and printed the boarding passes out.

This time--I am being mailed a ticket. How do I obtain the A boarding pass or is that given when they mail out the tickets? We are going to Vegas and this is confusing and we want to be able to sit together.

Thanks!!!

I really didnt know this either but you cant do it with paper ticket. I believe you have to go to counter at airport.

from southwest.com travel center/Check In Online/Print Boarding Pass

Requirements for Online Checkin

To use Online Checkin @ southwest.com and print your Boarding Pass, you must:

* Check in beginning 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure
* Checkin at least one hour prior to your scheduled departure
* Have a Ticketless reservation
* Be checking in for flights that have not already departed

Ok---so I will still need to get a boarding pass for A B or C.

see-my FIL said he flys southwest all the time and they have assigned seating to Vegas. It didnt sound right to me because everytime we have flown to FL--its on the boarding passes--first come first serve.

He went a few years ago and never had to get a boarding pass and stand in the line for a b or c.

Not to start any disputes with your FIL, but not long after Southwest started its (once daily) non-stop from MHT to LAS - and that was within the last few/four years - they absolutely had A, B and C lines. The only reason I ended up not having to stand in one is that when I was approaching the existing end of the A line, I tripped over some idiot's bag that he had halfway into the lane.

I just flew from IND to LAS a month ago on SWA and they have the A, B and C boarding and not assigned seats.

Your FIL is, um, mistaken. SW has never had assigned seats (or maybe they did 20+ years ago or something, but not anytime recently)

I booked a flight through SWV the vacations arm of south west. Well we got the tickeys mailed as well and had to go to the airport and check-in .We were lucky to get B's but was told thats how it is bu tthey were looking into a way to chang it.

I told the lady I talked to that this is a big downside to using the SWV and just booking flights different from a hotel package.
