For those looking to book Southwest...

I just booked four round trip tickets BUF to MCO August 23-28 for a total of $1088 US (includes early bird check in.) Even with the exchange rate, that still works out to about 1300-1400 Canadian.

Westjet for same dates is over $3000 out of YYZ :crazy2:

Our trip down in August was $115 per person, but our trip back was $160 per person. For us, this worked out to about $50 per person more expensive than last year (not counting the horrible exchange rate this year).

We got $132 for the leg going and $115 back (in US funds) But like I say even with the crappy exchange rate, still wayyyy cheaper than Westjet & AC.

We paid $115 BUF to MCO and $99 return. I believe our total was $956 (including EBCI) for four people! We were very happy. Didn't really love the flight times (was hoping for early afternoon flights but took an 8:00am flight to MCO and return flight 7:45pm). Even with exchange a great price.

Those are our favourite flight times, and the ones we chose. Early down- late back. :woohoo:

We paid $99 each way for our direct flights from BUF to MCO on August 25-September 2. Total cost for our family of 4 was $784. This trip is even cheaper than our trip last year.

Normally we like the early flight down as we usually book a park and fly room but this time we were hoping to leave our house around 4:00am for a noon flight (4.5 hr drive but need a bit of 'extra, just in case time'). Now I'm not sure if we should just leave at 1:00am and drive straight to airport (sleep on plane for a couple of hours)? Maybe that's crazy!? We are spending 15 nights at Disney (kept adding on days lol) so we'd rather not get hotel room at airport. Our girls are 13 and 15 so they travel well. And on way home, youngest DD has high school orientation the day after we return ... with a late flight home we will get back into our own beds around 3:00-4:00am -yikes! Well, I guess that's what I get for trying to squeeze in so much Disney (but never too much Disney lol).
I've got lots of time to plan and decide. Maybe they will even open up more flight times? But again, I am really happy with the price I paid! Way better than Pearson!
:yay: ADR's this weekend too! Good luck with your planning:-)

I've been waiting and waiting for this release! Just booked great rates out of Flint!! But that exchange is NASTY!!!!

Luckily I was checking almost daily, so the first morning the dates opened, we booked our August return flights, MCO to Buffalo, $399 USD for three of us. I waited a day too long to book my solo flight in October, should have booked right away, I could have scored $99 each way, but by waiting i paid $134 out, $99 back, still quite good though. Jet Blue or anything out of Pearson, not even in the same ballpark. Unfortunately Allegiants Fall schedule has very limited flights, Niagara to Sanford. Southwest is by far the best option for us.

I paid $115 each way! Early departure @8am, and early return @1130am, (I tried late return and wasnt a big fan at all). Yay! love the prices! And like others have said, even with the exchange its still a lot cheaper!

hello, fellow SWesters : )

We're travelling next week for $800ish (for 4 of us) return. I grabbed the flight first with the intent to book a cruise, but when the cruise didnt' work out for those dates, I knew it was either WDW or US ... and US it is. We have an early 7:30 am flight. Not quite sure what I was thinking when I booked that (oh, yeah I was thinking "woo hoo"). Fortunately, we have nexus, so that gives me a little more comfort about waking early and making our flight. I asked DH about booking a hotel, but he figures we'd be paying money for a hotel, and it would work out to about 45 minutes extra sleep, so we're driving straight in.

I need to book a flight to FLL for November, and anxiously awaiting for the first crack at the November dates/prices.

not sure if the advice was here on another thread, but I tried to add our nexus # to the sw info. Had some trouble getting through some of the accounts. I only ever use my login to book flights, and the info for DH and the kids was old and outdated (old email address I haven't used in years!). Called SW Customer Service and they got it all straightened out and made sure we had known traveller # and current addresses for everyone.

How do you guys find these low fares (less than $1000 for 4)?? I'm getting $1300+ and the itinerary isn't that great.

The key is right place at right time. Booking when the flights are first released and also when they have sales and specials. Southwest has this DING message service which alerts you to specials. But i find it too annoying and always shut it down. The longer the available flights have been sitting there, the more likely they will get booked and prices will go up.

You sound like you're coming from where I am but I didn't book when you did :( I see now that the September flights are even rising.
