Any disadvantage to buying a one-way ticket on Southwest, then buying the return leg at a later date?

I'm hoping the return leg prices drop. Thanks!

Nope! In fact many people only book one-way tickets on SW in case the fare for only one leg of their trip decreases. Then they can get a SW credit for the difference in the price for that leg and not have to rebook the entire trip. Unlike many other airlines, SW doesn't penalize for booking one-way.

Not a problem at all!! I only purchase 1-way tickets myself.

I'm waiting to book the leg back home w/ SW. Currently it is at $154 and the lowest I've seen is $124. The leg to Orlando was $84. :)

Score another one here for two one ways. When SW last opened their booking, the opened up TO the day of our departure but to the day of our return.

We bought one-ways to lock in low fares, ASAP. We paid $69/one way for Kansas City to Orlando. By the end of the day, fares were up to $149.

I currently have one-ways booked home to KC at $69 .. wondering if the outbound is going to go up or down .. currently at $169 (ouch) but it is the Saturday after Thanksgiving .. UGH .. what to do???
