hi everyone,

We are looking at flying with southwest on our trip next year...the flight that I am looking at has a 90 min layover but no plane change...my question is: do we stay on the plane for that 90mins or do we get off with our stuff, and then have to board again with any new passengers for the next leg?
Thanks!

You stay on the plane. After the other passengers disembark, the FAs will do a head count. After that you can move about the plane, change seats, use the lavatory.

Thank you for taking the time to respond :)

No problem! I just used Southwest a couple of days ago, and that is what they were telling the people on the aircraft who were continuing on to another city.:)

With a 90 min layover, they may ask you to de-plane, as there is most likely a crew change and the new crew may not be there yet. They will not allow passengers to be on the aircraft without crew aboard as well. If you are asked to de-plane, you can leave all your stuff on- board. When it is time to board again, the through passengers will be allowed to go on first and re- take your seats. Then they will board the new passengers.

Make sure if you leave the aircraft you keep your ID with you. You will need to to get back on board. We were pulled off of one plan that had a problem with the lav they couldn't fix, and put on another plane. That is how they checked us to board, we had to show our ID.

You don't have to stay on the plane! They even offered to let us get off on a much shorter layover, but we stayed on. They said leave our stuff, take an ID, and that we could reboard earlier than all the new passengers also.

I just have a 45 min. layover a few weeks ago on SWA and we were allowed to leave the plane but take our ID with us.
