SouthWest is offering 50K points Credit Card again

For anyone who got the "further review" response....what number did you call to inquire about it?

I've a possibly stupid question but I just can't seem to figure it out!

Where do I go to view my points/rewards? I created a Rapid Rewards account with Southwest. Do I link up the card there somehow? I've looked but don't see where.

Thanks!

Did you have a Rapid Rewards account before you applied for the credit card? If you did, it should have been automatically linked when you entered your RR number on the application. If you didn't, I think they assign you one.

I don't think my card shows up on my RR account. My Chase account has no RR info either.

Assign me one, huh? OK, I'll look into that. But, no, I didn't have an RR account before I applied.

Thanks!

It will be printed on your card when it comes in the mail.

We received them a couple of months ago and have hit our spending requirement, and I saved the stickers that came on the card... But there's no RR account number. I'll give them a call!

Thanks, everyone.

When do RR points post to your account? Is it when a purchase posts to the card or when the statement cycle ends?

Can I use my card and pay it off as soon as a purchase posts to my account? Will I still earn those RR Points?

Thanks

Points post shortly after the statement closes. You can pay it off as you go and still get points. If you use the RR shopping site, those points post shortly after purchase.

Where do I find the details about the promotion? I applied and received my card and there's no mention of it anywhere. :( I did seem to be getting the offer when I applied (and took screenshots).

The points will credit to your account a few days after your statement is generated (which is 3-4 days AFTER the cycle ends). You can make payments to your account in the middle of a cycle and you will still get RR points for those purchases.

With all the changes to the RR program, is it still a good deal getting the SW CC? Just doesn't seem like the RR points go as far anymore.

When I called to activate my card, I had them check and make sure I was correct on the details of the promotion (correct spending amount, correct amount of bonus points). Other than that, you won't find any info until you have reached your spending level and the points will just appear in your account 2-3 days after your billing cycle ends.

Considering that I have booked 3 round trip flights to Washington DC, 5 round trip flights to Orlando, and received a companion pass with my bonus points, I consider it a good deal.

With the prices of flights going up if I can make this work for me with no additional debt then it is worth it. It cost us almost $1000 to fly to New Mexico for a family wedding last summer. I could have offset at least some of that cost with points if I had them.

LOVE the DISboards!!!! Thanks to all the great info and helpful people here I just saw our 50,000 bonus points credited and booked flights for our family for just the $20 fee.

Has anyone changed their due date to change their statement closing date to get the points credited more quickly? And does that work?

I've read on other threads that most people have not been successful trying to move their closing date. However, I think at least one person said they were successful.

Do the points expire ? We're going to apply for this card, but we're not planning to go to Disney until June 2016. We were going to use these points for our flight for that trip. So I was thinking to get the card now (or soon) so that we would also catch the 6,000 anniversary points.
Depending on how much in advance I can book the flights, we will most likely make all our plans by next fall. (and then book the flights whenever they open up our date)

but I didn't want to do it now and then find that the points went away.... does anyone have any experience with this ? Should I just wait a while ?:confused3

Nope! The points never expire. I believe the caveat is that you must have some sort of point earning activity on your RR account at least once every 24 months. If you have the RR credit card, then every purchase you make is "activity". As long as you don't apply for the card and let it sit for 2 years, you will be fine:yay:.
