Hi Everyone,

I know you'll be able to give me some help. I got a new job and we had to cancel our December trip. We booked another trip for the end of April. I've searched the internet but have only found old answers to my question.

The Southwest tickets go on sale Tuesday. What time do the tickets usually go on sale? Is there any pattern that you have noticed? Usually, it would not be a big deal but the schools on Long Island, NY have off for Passover the week we are going. Our dates are not flexible because I am a teacher and I have to plan for any snow days we might have to make up.

I always book the tickets. I'm going to have to teach my mom how to change our tickets from December to April. I want to give her as much info as I can as to when to look for the tickets to go on sale!

Thanks for all your help!

It can be significant, depending on the season. For Christmas we missed the release and paid dearly. Usually it's not such an issue.

OP, I hope it all worked out for you. I booked our spring break flights this morning and they are up over 50.00 per person already.

Our April school vacation tix more than doubled inside of 40 mins. Glad we jumped on them!

My experience with SW, if it says sold out, wait. It usually will come back on line at some point. I check airfare daily. I'm familiar with SW and how they operate. I'm currently trying to figure out how Delta works.

It did work out! I got up a little before six and kept refreshing the page. I was able to get the tickets for 199 going down as soon as they went on sale. The return flight was 129. Within a few minutes of me re-booking the price went up to 200 something and before I left for work they were 300 something. By nine this morning all the nonstop flights said sold out. I'm glad I was able to exchange them as it gives me peace of mind that I have the tickets!

I have always found a few weeks AFTER opening the prices are cheapest. I always look at opening, but rarely has the price listed been the cheapest the ticket will go for.
