Hi all,

I was waiting for a DING from Southwest to book my trip from Buffallo to Orlando Aug 27 - Sep 3. When fares got released the prices were at $168 range. I wasn't happy and waited for them to drop. This morning I went to Southwest website to check availability and the prices were dropped DRAMATICALLY. I was able to book non-stop flights both ways at $69. It came down to $786 for 5 tickets return. Not sure what's going on because I didn't see any internet specials e-mails or DING's. Buy it while it's there!

For those going during the free dining promotion, the BUF-MCO price for September 8th is now 64.19, instead of 168.00.

The return price for the dates we want (sep. 16th) is still 168.00.

Thanks so much for the heads up! We just booked our flights at the lower rate. :cool1:

Just got two tickets return from Orlando for $314.00 That is awesome!

I checked today too and now I'm thinking about a summer trip! S

Thanks for the post!! Got my tickets for $69 both ways not including taxes. I am happy with this price. If there is a Ding I can always hold on to the credit.:goodvibes

Free Dining & low Southwest Fares... must resist...:goodvibes

I got so excited when I saw your post - I've been waiting for cheaper flights in July - and wouldn't you know it, the dates I need July 15 -27th are still $168 EACH WAY, and all the dates around mine are $69 each way:confused3 I'm still shaking my head!!!! Cross your fingers I can get my dates down in price before too long, if at all!!!!

We were toying with it but the prices were too high-NOT NOW! Wahooo!!!Now we are just going to have to figure out what to wear costume wise, last year we were the Incredibles and it was so fun, other Incrdibles would shout out stuff like "hey, cousin!" etc... Thank you so much for posting!! We just got a $700 credit on our 4 tickets in August on the exact same flights. Really appreciate the heads up.:thanks: :disrocks:

To get these cheap flights does this mean you are all flying out of Buffalo?? What do you do with your car? How long is the drive from the Toronto area?

Thanks, Suz

1) Yes, we are flying out of Buffalo
2) Can park car at the airport; park across the road from airport at Sunpark; book a stay/park/fly package with an airport hotel and stay there the night before your flight and leave your car there while you are away
3) Depends on where in GTA you are driving from...From Mississauga to Buffalo airport is roughly 1 3/4 hours plus border crossing time.

Thank you so much! I never knew it was that much cheaper to fly from the US. When my little family of three went for the first time in December we had a direct flight out on Air Canada and the cost was just over $650.00 each to fly! It was such a huge chunk of our budget, but we will have to rethink things now.

Thanks again!!

Depends on when you are flying in December and how early you can book flights as to how much cheaper it will be. If flying in the first half of December it should be quite a bit cheaper with Southwest or Airtran. If flying between December 21st and Jan 5th that can be a different story becuase of high demand.

Air Canada...if you book AC when the Christmas season window opens (usually 11 months prior) that'll be the cheapest you get AC for at that time of year and usually @ $550 per person total for round trip. This has been my experience the last 3 years.

Southwest...doesn't open their Christmas season until around late August and you are likely looking at around $400US per person total for round trip. Also add to that your parking/hotel and gas to get to Buffalo and back and now it isn't much different then AC.

AirTran...you just have to keep an eye on them. Two weekends ago I booked Christmas season seats for my wife and I at $235US per person total round trip. This was cheaper then I know SW will be and certainly cheaper than AC no matter how early you book.

In December it really comes down to when you want to travel (high demand time?), how early you can book and total costs (parking/gas).

Anytime other than high demand time and SW or AT will be significantly cheaper. Depending on how many times you stop for the night when driving, it can be cheaper than driving. Especially for a family of 3.

I booked SW when they opened up. Now how do I go about getting the lower rate and a credit. Do I have to pull up my ressie and go to chnage or do I cancel and rebook or do I call them direct?
