Anyone flown recently with diabetes and have you had any issues. I am taking my 5 yr who recently got diagnoised. DO they allow frio packs on plane?

I had no problem taking a FRIO pack with me on Southwest. However, it's not Southwest that you have to worry about, it's TSA. You have to get through security before you get on the plane. Make sure all of your diabetes supplies are in your carry ons. We also tell the TSA agent that we are traveling with a diabetic, they usually just nod. You shouldn't have any problems going through TSA with supplies.

thank you so much. this is our first trip since we found out and i go back and forth about we can do it everyone else does to omg we shouldn't go! I'm in my omg stage today.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel. We all went through it after our child was diagnosed with diabetes. Just relax, you can travel with diabetes.

While it all seems overwhelming now, it will get easier.

I tend to do about five or so air oundtrips per year and I will always have one or two Frio packs with me in my carryon luggage. I have never had any problem with TSA.

I can't really answer about the frio pack since I just bought one myself and haven't flown with it yet. But, I just wanted to suggest that you go on the TSA website and read up about what you can bring through security. Because your son is diabetic you will be able to carry juice through security. I was diagnosed 13 years ago, but just flew for the first time with my pump in July. I was nervous, but everything was fine. I personally don't ever tell anyone that I'm diabetic. Noone has ever asked. The #1 thing is to carry everything that he may need - including all extra stuff in your carryon. I also have a glucagon and make sure that my prescription is on that since it is a needle. When at WDW just make sure to test alot! Good luck and have fun - You all deserve it!

There is one post in the disABILITIES FAQs thread which is about air travel. It includes some general information and some links, including links to the TSA website.
Post 3 of that same thread has some resources about diabetes that may be helpful.
You can find the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board or use the link in my signature to get there.
