Southwest credits

I'm not really understanding how SW can credit you for a cheaper flight (sorry if it's been asked before) I've never flown them but bought tix the other day when the new flights were released since I wanted certain days and especially times. I keep seeing that people sometimes get credited if their flight price drops. Do I need to keep checking back with SW to see the price and then do I notify them for credit or does it only work if I have the Ding installed? TIA!

Keep looking every day, especially for DINGS, but sometimes systemwide sales are pretty cheap too. It can all be done on the computer, I think with the dings you have to do it on computer, but if you run into trouble call 1-800-I-FLY-SWA and they will be happy to talk you through it. You basically modify your reservation (in some cases you may have to rebook for a DING if I recall correctly) and they will issue you a credit in dollar amount. So if your tix are 100 dollars and you get a deal for fifty, they will give you a credit of fifty to use on future air travel. I hope that makes more sense.

One thing to note with SW credits: keep your OLD confirmation #s, since TTFs are listed under them if there is any extra $! You'll need them to view any funds (Travel Tools is the heading to click in order to see what $ you have; you'll be required to put in those confirmation #s.) Another thing to note is the expiration date of your TTFs; it will be tied to your original use of $, not necessarily the date you changed fares.
I love SWA, but you do have to be more proactive with them than with other airlines (IMHO, a small price to pay in lieu of penalties and fees charged by the others! )
