First off, yes I know that on Jan 28th all SW credit must be used by the person the original name was in.

Can't seem to find my question of their webpage...

Is the credit for for one year from time of original purchase, one year from the original flight date, or one year from time you got the credit?

One year from the date of purchase of the original flight. This means that you have to use the credit for a flight that is prior to the date of original purchase.

If you bought tickets say on Oct 18, 2010 for a flight on April 5, 2011 and cancelled them on November 15, 2010 here is the timetable.

You must complete travel using the ticketless funds by Oct 18, 2011. Which means if you plan to fly on Oct 17th and return on Oct 25th the funds would only be valid on the Oct 17th flight and you couldn't book RT tickets to use the funds you'd need to purchase one ways to use funds.
