Just wondering what the maximum size for a carry-on is on Southwest. We are going for three nights in Nov. and hoping to not have to check any luggage.

Also, I know you can have one carry-on and one personal bag, like a purse for woman, what about a man? Are they allowed a personal bag also? Thanks!

You can find this information at Southwest Airlines' Carryon Policy "Southwest Airlines limits carryon bag dimensions to 10x16x24 inches."

"...one bag plus one smaller, personal-type bag" per passenger; it doesn't matter whether the passenger is male or female.

Thanks for the quick info. Has anyone every had to check a carry-on? It must be somewhat rare. On our August trip home from Orlando, the flight was booked solid and packed and it didn't happen. Thank goodness, because that was the flight that also never loaded our checked luggage on!

I have never had to do it because I refuse to carry luggage :), but, I have been on a number of flights where they have gate checked luggage. It really does not matter how many people there are on the plane, it matters how much they carry on.

A briefcase, camera bag or laptop is also considered a personal item. Some airlines also allow a small backpack.

If your carryon ends up getting gate-checked because the storage bins are full, make sure that the airline attaches a tag and gives you a claim check.

Carryon is definitely the way to go for short trips.:Pinkbounc
