I’m currently 4 hours into a phone call after Southwest cancelled our 11:25am flight at 11:15pm. I was just closing my eyes after getting everything packed when I got a text. Immediately got online to see if I could rebook. Nothing. We have 5 different reservations (6 people). Ours is the only flight out of Baltimore cancelled.

So we are currently on the road. 15 hour road trip in two cars. We tried every airport in Florida and all DC airports. I’m so sad.
4 hours and still on hold. Do we have any recourse? Most of us were on points. We will get those back right? Do I have yo stay on this phone to get this fixed. What about our early bird 😔😔

App doesn’t even work anymore. Don’t know what is up.

Please pray we get there safe. 😢😢

That’s horrible! I’m so sorry.

Yes, you should get your money and points back. You may need to push to get the returns refunded as well but don’t take no for an answer. Their actions made the entire round trip ticket worthless.

If you have separate reservations for the return that’s going to be harder though.

Yeah, unacceptable. Unless its weather realted, it gonna be a hard sell for a no refund. and 12 hours out? It aint no weather, its them being cheap.

Everyone talks about SW being so great. My experiences with them last years has been pretty basic to bottom of the barrel.

My goto is AA.

Our nephew and his wife were flying out of Norfolk to MCO and they said all flights had been delayed due to the system wide outage of weight control (whatever that means). Lots of delayed and cancelled flights today. In the middle of spring break? Ugh. Oh well. At least the weather so far on the trip has been nice. 🤪

Deleted because EACarlson said I was "completely incorrect." But I hope your trip can be saved and is a great time!

I am sorry you are having travel issues.
ā€Weight controlā€ relates to the collection and use of weight information, pretty much as it sounds.

Weight information is critical in calculating fuel needs, ability to take cargo, and how weight is distributed in the plane. It is also used for plane controls. It’s really, really valuable data.

SAME DEAL, but Jet Blue. Scrambling now, was at airport (EWR) when we found out. They emailed me, I didn't see it. I was still getting texts flight was ok, but I should have looked at app and/or my email before leaving here at 5 am.

They rebooked us tomorrow out of LGA (no thanks) and then moved it to 6 am tomorrow EWR but I found a flight from PHL later today. On hold trying to redo bus reservations then calling JB about tomorrow, Its a mess.

I feel like I'm hearing about a lot of technical issues with companies, lately, and idk about anyone else but I'm seeing a lot of weird stuff coming up in my Google searches. POTUS recently warned about hacking intensifying with the Russia/Ukraine situation and I find myself wondering if it's related.

I was suppose to fly home on southwest today. They canceled my flight last night. I was able to immediately rebook on to another flight around the same time for today with a different connecting city. This morning my Mco leg was delayed to where I would miss my connection. I rebooked on American for tomorrow for $144 non stop (flight was a lot more when I was originally booking). Staying with friends tonight, and have $200 of travel credit to use by September 7.

What a bummer! It sounds like you did an amazing pivot to make things work.

I'm guessing that the smaller portions at the Disney restaurants has completely messed up the Weight calibrations...

Yeah. I had been regularly refreshing the southwest app just to stay on top of potential delays. As soon as it happened I looked at my rebook options and when that didn’t work I went to Americans site to see what’s as available for today and tomorrow and went from there.

So hi everyone! We are currently about an hour away from savannah Georgia and been driving since 3:40 am. We have been on the phone with a Southwest rep for about an hour now to see what needs to be done. We have a very nice lady who has refunded all points and all early birds. When SWA cancels any flight refunds for payment, points or early birds are automatically refunded. However since we had to drive down we needed them cancel the return flights for us with the Rep having to manually refund the earlybirds on that side. We each also get a $200 voucher so we are pleased.
We’ve been flying to Disney multiple times a year on SWA for the last 20 years and never had this happen. Sadly it sounds like it’s becoming more common though we were told our cancelation was due to the ā€œweightā€ maintenance they did last night that didn’t go as planned. (Would want to be the person who messed up that maintenance run🤪)

All and all I wish I was currently on our schedule flight right now but we’ve had no choice but to accept and move forward!!
We are grateful that we could just get in the car and ride down 95. Lots of families would not have had that choice.

Hoping the rest of the trip is safe and we manage to enjoy what’s left of Disney magic.

Thank you all for kinds words and prayersšŸ¤—

I’m so glad everything is working out for you! We fly SW out of BWI almost yearly, too, and have never had an issue either. We are flying to Denver on SW from BWI this summer and as I was reading your post this morning I was thinking about what we’d do if our Denver flight was canceled. I’m not driving there, lol. Hopefully I won’t have to figure it out. I’m glad SW made it right for you guys. Enjoy your time in Disney!

Eh. Southwest has had multiple operational meltdowns over the last year. Nothing terribly new here except this one isn’t as bad- at least not yet.

System wide issues this morning turned into weather related cancellations this afternoon/evening… I was diverted to Atlanta and since my trip was not Disney related I just book a trip from Atlanta back home… extremely long frustrating day and my luggage who knows..
