Southwest Cancellation with Points Question

I know this is the Budget Board, but I've learned so much about SW from this board I thought I'd ask my question here...

If I book a flight with SW on points and pay the $11.50/per way fee (or something like that), and I end up having to cancel, do I get a refund for those fees? If not, can you use the fees for a future flight? I kind of want to go ahead and book a Feb. flight, but I'm not 100% sure if we'll get to go or not. I was about to book because I know the points are refundable, but I wasn't sure about the fees.

Also, another question- too book a companion flight, I book my flight first, then go back in later and book my companions, is that right?

You can choose whether to have them refunded or save for a future credit, although I think you have to click something to get the refund, as credit is the default. And yes, you book your flight and then about 5 minutes later, you will see a button to click "book companion."

Yes, you can get the fee refunded. When you cancel a flight that was booked on points, it gives you the option to get a refund or credit.

One of the great things about booking Southwest with points! No penalties for cancelling!!!

I think, in error, I requested a future credit rather than a refund of those fees. When I try to confirm if I have any credits available, it requests a confirmation number, which I do not have.

How can I check to see if I have any credits available without a confirmation # ?

Easiest thing to do would be to just call. They should be able to find it under your name or rewards number.

Well how did you cancel the reservation? In order to cancel you would have had to have a reservation number.

If you have a RR acct and used your RR # to book simply sign into your RR acct and the reservation number will be there

And if you did not book with points the cash back option for the fee's does not apply. It only works for folks who booked with points.

Check your Email or deleted box. Unless you clean it out it should be there.

It is the confirmation number attached to the flight you canceled. If you no longer have that, then call CS.
