Hi-
I've never flown SW, but it looking like they offer non-stop flights at the best times for us. Since they don't assign seats, I understand that your best bet to be able to sit with you kids over 4 yrs old is to check-in on-line 24 hours ahead.
We will be staying at HRH and touring the Universal parks at the 24 hour mark.
We don't have web access on cell phones, etc.
If I leave the parks and walk back to HRH will someone at the concierge desk be able to pre-check us all in AND print our boarding passes? It was mentioned on a Disney thread that at Disney you could even go to Guest Services in the Disney parks and they would do it for you right there in the park. Anyone know if they do this at Universal? Anyone have experience with getting SW boarding passes for return home while staying at HRH?
Thanks so much!
Jill

You should be able to take care of the boarding passes at the regular guest services concierge desk. You are correct about SW's seating. They board in groups A,B, and C. Get your boarding pass printed asap when the "within 24 hr ahead" window begins. You will guarantee yourself to be in "A" group and have a great choice of seats. The only people who will board before you are the "pre-seat" people (handicapped, or with small children) Note: at the boarding gate, you will see people starting to wait in the "A" line (and b & c) about an hour before actual boarding time. If you really are set on certain seats, it's not a bad idea to camp out in the line space;) SW has been the friendliest and hassle free airline we've ever traveled on.

We flew Southwest for the first time in November. Having mostly flown United previously, we are now Southwest converts!

We had our laptop with us, so we just checked in via our room. And we just had the boarding passes printed for us when we checked in our bags.

You CAN just check in and when you check your bag(s), you can print your boarding pass there. The important thing is to BE CHECKED IN!!!

Both times we checked in at exactly the 24 hour mark, and both times we were issued boarding passes 1-8. I thought it would be a madhouse to try to get those A passes during a Thanksgiving week and that with 8 people we may not get them. But it seems that not everybody was quite as anal as I was - hitting the check-in button on the Southwest website at 23 hours and 59 seconds before we boarded :teeth:

Thanks everyone. When you say "regular guest services conceriege desk" to do early check-in for the return home, is that at the on-site hotel desk only, or does Universal have a guest services in the parks where we could do this? Sorry to be dense, but we've never been to Universal, and don't do a whole lot of traveling in general.
If its at the hotel only, are there computers and printers sitting there ready for guests to use, or do you wait in line to have someone at the desk do it for you? I'm trying to gauge how much time to allow to leave the park, walk to HRH and get it taken care of. It would be really, really nice if there wase a place at the park so I wouldn't have to leave.
One last question...some of the posts mentioned only being able to print out ONE persons boarding pass and to get the others a call had to be made to SW to "seperate" the reservation. Is this still the case? Should I book all 5 tickets at once, or do I need to book one ticket at a time in order to pre-check in and print boarding passes for everyone?
Thanks again..I really appreciate being able to know what to expect. You guys are the best!
Jill

Each Universal hotel has a business center where passengers can check in and print boarding passes. There is a fee for this service though. We've done this lately when flying Southwest.

Southwest used to have this limitation but not anymore. You can now check-in and print the boarding passes of all passengers in the same reservation.

This would work if you needed to print out the passes while the business center was open. In our case, it wouldn't have worked because I had booked us a really late flight to get all we could out of that last day. At RPR there is a regular guest concierge on the left after you've passed the check-in desks. It didn't cost us anything but a tip. I'm not sure where the location would be at HRH. And no, there are no places in the parks to do this. I guess you could do like one poster said and use your own laptop to check-in on the SW site and just wait until you check your bags to actually get the boarding passes. It just takes a little longer that way.
We've been thrilled with SW. Both trips to FL from Phila. ended up being shorter than scheduled, one by 20 minutes and one by 35!

HRH Conceirge volunteered to check us (family of 4) in and print our boarding passes YESTERDAY morning. No charge for this service. If you go to the business center you will have to pay a usage fee.
