Are we doomed??? I wish now I would have forked over the extra $ and did the EBCI. I did the check in at 9:42 for our 9:40 flight in the a.m. We still ended up in B. We are a family of 7 including Grandma, and love to sit in the back of the plane. There are only a few seats left on the plain from what I can tell on SW website. Do you think there is hope for us to all be able to sit close.

We flew SW back in August...family of 6, boarding B. Three were able to sit at the back together...one in row in front of them...two in a row toward middle of plane. We split it up as best we could...hard when there are so many people who want to sit together...

Would grandma or a young child/infant qualify to preboard? I might call SW if there's a chance to preboard your family...

can't hurt to ask!! ;)

One of us can preboard with our DD who is 18 months. I hadn't thought about Grandma. I will check into that. Thanks :goodvibes

Good luck! :wizard:

Have fun at Disney! I'm jealous. We are going May, but it feels like forever until we leave! :upsidedow

Depends on low or high B's. Low b's no issue.

Um, Grandma isn't going to be able to preboard unless she has some kind of an issue...medical or such. You don't get to preboard just because you're a 'senior'..otherwise, I would be up there preboarding all the time!!! Yes, I am old enough to be a grandma...actually, my mother was a grandma at 43, so that's not such a big deal anymore.

Will you all get seats together being in the B group?? Maybe not all of you in 3 adjoining rows, but you should be able to get two seats together, so that no one has to sit along. And I would imagine that if you are happy heading to the back of the plane, you are going to be able to get many seats together.

First, you are NOT doomed. Skip the EBCI. Which B numbers do you have? Unless you are in the end numbers of the B group, getting 7 together at the back of the plane will be easy.

BTW, SWA has changed family preboarding, it goes between A and B groups now, instead of ahead of the A group. I flew SWA last week and several families with infants and small kiddos boarded their entire group (of 3-6 people) at the pre-board time. That included those with C boarding cards.

If you can only pre-board one with your baby, then I would have that person go to the back of the plane and hover over the last two rows. That would give you entire group a place to sit together.

You'll be fine, relax and enjoy your doom-free vacation!

Thanks everyone for the words of support. I am saying a prayer that everything will work out. :goodvibes

We just flew from MCO to PHL last night. We had B5,6,7 and B17. We had no problem finding several rows open from mid-plane on towards the rear of the plane. You may not all be in consecutive rows, but you will be together. SW's seats are 3 + 3, so someone will be across the aisle anyway.
The gate agents were very specific that family boarding was only for the child under 4 and the parents, no grandma, no aunt and uncle.
Don't fret.

Last January we boarded B 46 to B 49 and all sat together. People stress too much over this. It's the C's that may have to break up.

What airport are you flying from? B20 should be OK if your flight is originating from your airport.

It might not be OK if the plane has a lot of continuing passengers. You may have a problem getting seats together if your airport is BWI.

We are flying out of Columbus. Then I completely forgot to call in our ME until two weeks ago. The luggage tags didn't arrive in time. A little concerned about that, but nothing I can do about it now. I can't wait to be on vacation tomorrow. Hopefully some of that fresh Disney air brings some clarity to my mind. ;)

Your flight originates in Chicago. The answer depends on how many continuing passengers are already on the plane. I'd be surprised if your family couldn't get some seats close together. No guarantee. Passengers boarding a flight with continuing passengers should consider paying for EBCI.
