OK, bad parent moment. My DD (11, and 14) are flying tomorrow and I forgot to check them in this afternoon, so they are B40-41. My 11 y.o. will be a bit nervous if they can't sit together. They should be OK, right? at least close??

They won't have stuff to place overhead so that isn't really an issue.

Southwest's 737 aircraft seat around 130 people. If your kids are in the B group it's very likely that they can sit together, especially if they line up early.

They should still be able to get a seat together. It will be more towards the back of the plane, but they should be fine. Now if they were in C group, then chances are they might be split up.

They should be fine. At B40 and 41, they will be around the 80th to board, depending on how many families with young children board between A and B.

Lining up early does not matter anymore as you are now assigned a boarding number. You line up by number, it is no longer a first come, first serve in your boarding line. (Although some still think it is ok to not line up by number).

knew about not ling up early. Just wished I had remembered to check them in for an A boarding.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question - can't you, when they're at the airport, ask to do the early boarding thingee, cuz they're kids? Or no?

That's good to know. Obviously I haven't flown with them in a while. :)

Because my oldest is 14 they are no longer considered unaccompanied minors. The cutoff is 12. When my youngest flies by herself she is still a kid.

They don't even guarantee that DH and I can go to the gate. It has never been an issue, but if for some reason security is up, or very busy, they won't give us gate passes. Like I said, we've never had a problem but we always prepare the girls for that possibility. Luckily my oldest can get around an airport better than some adults I know. She flies by herself at least every 6 weeks or so,

Your teenager doesn't want to sit with either one of you;)

Well, what about (working around the system) and having your unaccompanied minor get the early boarding, and save the oh-so-mature, practically an adult according to Southwest, a seat? :rolleyes1

How much extra do you have to pay for an unaccompanied minor?

Oooo, I like how you think. I wonder if SW will go for that since they are on the the same reservation. May have to try that (insert devious laugh here)
