Details at link above. Most importantly to me: It's an introductory rate of only $5 per flight! Looks like we'll be taking the laptops and letting the DS's play on the Playhouse Disney site. Well worth $5!

This is a good marketing move by Southwest. I'll guess it will be a great success.

Do be aware that it is only on 32 planes in the fleet right now, mostly these are now on transcon routes. The installation on the entire fleet is not scheduled to be finished until the end of 2012 -- it will be awhile before you can depend on having it available on every flight.

What I would LUV is for the airline to allow you to use the RR drink coupons to pay for WiFi, too.

We got to try this out on our flight from MHT to MCO a few weeks ago. They were charging $7. They said it was "experimental" and we got the impression they were doing marketing research on the pricing because when the flight attendant announced that WiFi was available she said she had no idea what the price was because it kept changing. DH tried it and he thought it worked well. Good to hear that it's going to be $5, at least initially. That seems very reasonable.

SWA has been testing it for over a year now and I'm glad they are finally doing something more. I believe the first planes are going to be the newer 737s out of Boeing and the ones already in the fleet will take time to retrofit.

Now if only coa/ua would put it there planes it would be great.
