Southwest anniversary sale

Does this sale usually offer great deals? We are looking at booking our flights for September this week. If a better deal comes during the Anniversary sale, can I cancel without penalty and re-book it then? I am getting Non stop with SWA from Flint Mi to MCO for $992 for 4 people. Does that seem like a good deal? We usually drive but thought we'd fly this year....but out of Flint Michigan is $430 cheaper than out of Detroit Michigan.

We have been flying SW from Pittsburgh the last few Septembers. What I usually do is book 1 way the day the flights are released. I keep my eyes peeled for sales, especially the June sale, when the flights drop, I change my 1 way fare to the lower priced flights to get a credit. Then I use the credit to book the return flight at the current sale price. From PIT, I have paid $79-$109/person, one way.

If the flight price drops, you can "change" your flight to the same, lower priced flight without penalty. Your account will be credited the $$ difference to be used within 1 year of the original booking date. They do not refund the $$ back to your card, and you must actually fly somewhere within the year, not just purchase tickets. Hope that helps.

I looked up my flights from 2013 and they were all purchased on June 13th. Googling Southwest Anniversary Sale it looks like the dates were June 11-13.

I found a great price for our August trip, but it's the wanna getaway and I'm just nervous about booking something non-refundable, etc.

I book the wanna get away fare. If something comes up I can cancel and rebook for free. YOu have up to a year to use the funds.

And if you are that worried then you can get trip insurance which is good for a full 12 months after you buy it.

The tickets are non refundable but if you have to cancel, you get a credit. You have a year from when you booked the original flight to use the credit.

That is a fair price from Flint. You can find better, but definitely worse. Flint is a wonderful airport to fly out of. It is small, short security lines, cheap parking, easy to get in and out of. Way more convenient than DTW in my opinion. Good luck

I didn't know it could be transferred (as far as travel dates go) and would be good for a year... that makes me feel a little bit better!

Yes it can be transferred to another date within one year it just CAN NOT be transferred to another person name.

Great thanks for all the advice everyone. I booked it this week and I will watch for the anniversary sale, and do as you all told me. My first time with SWA and seems like I won't be disappointed.

We always have found good deals with their sale, but if you see a good fare when the schedule opens go for it.

This is very helpful, thank you. I have been stalking Southwest trying to find a good fare for my SIL's family, and for a friend's family. They are all going to Disney at the end of October and fares are pretty high right now. There was a good rate for one day earlier this month, but by the time I reached them to tell them to book the price had gone back up.

None of them will fly again within a year to use up any credit (except for DD, she is going with our friends, and she is the only one who could benefit from a fare credit).

I booked FNT-MCO for our October trip and the fares were $220 R/T. They have not gone down since then, in fact, they are up to over $400 now! If they are included in the anniversary sale, I certainly do not think they will go lower than $220. I used points before they changed the conversion rate so they would probably have to go well below $220 for me to get any sort of refund.

I'm so glad to hear this! We live about 10 minutes from the Grand Rapids airport. We definitely prefer to fly from there, but when airfare is half the price with non-stop options available, we've typically made the drive to Detroit. Now, there are no non-stops on SWA from GRR OR DTW so we were forced to choose FNT. I'm anxious to see how it compares to GRR. We've never experienced any difficulties at DTW and GRR is so convenient so I am not expecting any major issues. My biggest "concern" is that our flight departs at 6:50am and I am hoping that there will be something open at that hour so that we can grab some snacks and beverages.

I am flying from Phoneix to LAX and back in mid-October. Right now there are flights for $69 each way, but I am not 100% sure I can go yet. Do you think they will have tickets at this price during the Anniversary sale, or anytime before October?

Help? Delta flights from Detroit to Orlando over 400 if u want to fly out early and leave late found the same flight that was mentioned earlier from Flint for under 1000 for four round-trip. Problem is have always flown Delta the wife not excited about Southwest. Mostly the no assigned seating plus just never using Southwest before. Can someone share their experience with Southwest maybe versus Delta did they have good luck.

If you want to be seated together, I would pay the extra $12 or so dollars to have early boarding. But I think that for most people, the seating works out anyways. We flew Southwest vin March, and Delta in April, and I have to say, I preferred Southwest. The crew just seemed a lot friendlier. Plus, they had some free TV shows and the snacks were better.
