Hi all!

Can someone tell me- is it now fine to watch my iPad during take off/landing? I am flying Wednesday am with my young kids and was hoping I could have them watch their shows to distract them from take off.

Thanks!

They were actually the first airline I got an email from in regards to the change. :)

We flew Southwest on 11/21 and 11/27. Both times we were allowed to keep our small electronic devices in airplane mode for takeoff and landing. Anything larger, like a laptop, had to be stowed away during those times.

On US airways small electronics in airplane mode were allowed during take off and landing last Tuesday and Yesterday (Sunday!). I read that SWA is also following the new guidelines.

I think the only question would be if an IPad is considered a small electronic.

I know laptops aren't allowed, cell phones, ipods, etc are. Didn't check on IPads and tablets.

i used my Ipad without issues durint take off and landing - Tuesday 11/26 and yesterday. They asked for laptops to be stowed but IME my ipad was considered a small electronic.

I flew 3 weeks ago (Delta not SW) and tablets were considered small electronic devices. Only laptops had to be stowed.

The policy for Southwest is that any electronic device that weighs 2 lbs or more is considered large. If it is under 2 lbs then you can use it.

We just flew SW over the weekend. We used a Kindle Fire and a portable DVD player during takeoff/landing.
