Southwest and boarding w/children

Hehe... I suppose the question is: Do they make the airline look better or worse?

It kinds of turns me off. I was watching it this morning and there was a family of 6 who could not board because it was oversold. They bought tickets 6 months ago. One time they were oversold by about 50 people who were flying to go on a cruise. I know the other airlines oversell but I've never run into a problem because I've always had an advance seat assignment. Usually if you have a seat assignment the chances of being bumped is very low. On SW, I guess it's whoever gets their boarding passes last. They should go by booking date.

We fly Southwest roundtrip at least twice a month MDW to MCO, and neither my husband nor I has ever been on an oversold flight. I think the frequency is exaggerated on "Airline."

Maybe it is just because I traveled by air so much that it's just second-nature to me, but I would never put any significant on how long ago I bought a ticket. With airline tickets, as with most business transactions, what matters first are the explicit promises made, and second, the money paid. I suppose many folks make the assumption that booking a flight early actually gives them more priority in some way, but nothing could be further from the truth.
