Beginning very very soon - if you are staying at the POP CENTURY Resort and are flying on SOUTHWEST AIRLINES - you will be part of a test study to check your bags at your resort after you checkout - just like the other airlines!

If this is successful - you should see Southwest Airlines expand to the other Resorts soon! Good news for anyone flying on Southwest and could never check their bags at the Disney Resort for their return trip home!

Let us know if you get to experience this and how it goes!!!

Thanks!

Wow, this is great news! I love to fly SWA and this will maike going home so much less stressful. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

We will be at POP in December, and will very likely be flying SWA...this would totally rock!

PS...when do you think this will be officially announced?

Ummmmm... I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but *if* you have a rental car or want the hassle of taking a bus there :scared:, couldn't anyone flying Southwest and staying on-property check their bags at POP? Do you *have* to be staying at a particular resort to use its baggage check-in service?

agnes!

Well, shoot! That would have been really handy dandy for me last week. I was solo and that would have made a huge difference for me. My next trip is two weeks from today and DS will be with me so I'll have help with the luggage. Even so, you can be sure we will see if we can do this.:goodvibes

NOPE
If you were flying southwest Disney would pick your bags up on the way down, and deliver to your room, but on departure you had to load them on the bus and take them to check in at the airport yourself.

Now i wonder if the will do your southwest boarding passes too?
That would really make things nice
Ill take a1-a4 please

I always fly southwest but I've never had a problem waiting till the airport to check my bags. To me its not that big of a hassle. Regarding boarding passes: any hotel concierge or guest relations cm will check you in online and print your boarding passes for you. No waiting till you get to the airport and being stuck with a b or c! For now you'll just have to check your bags when you get to the airport until this is implemented at all the resorts.

Anybody seen any sign of this being implemented yet?

I used RAC on Southwest yesterday at Pop Century. They had all the signs at the desk changed to add Southwest as a participating airline.

Usually I don't check any luggage but I came from the cruise and had all the luggage one needs with a cruise, so it was helpful.

I do not know if they will check you in at the 24 hour mark. I did that myself the day before with a web-enabled cell phone. Because they just started yesterday I probably could not have asked them to do the check-in on Sunday.

Apparently this is a test and is currently implemented only at Pop Century, to be expanded to other resorts when they work out any bugs. No bugs with my experience. Not only did the luggage make it to Baltimore, it was the first luggage off the plane.

This is great news! Last year my daughter and I had 3 suitcases, 2 strollers (with kids in them), and a 2 huge carry on diaper bags. It was a horrendous experience.

I can't wait for this to happen at ALL the resorts.:yay: With my husband being blind, and me being a suitcase pack rat , we just have TOO much stuff for me to carry/roll. He usually carries the carry-ons, and I try to connect the suitcases together, but it is just too lopsided to work :confused3. Not having to deal with the luggage at all would be a WONDERFUL experience. I mean it's great now. I only have to get it out of the car in Pittsburgh (we usually do curbside check-in), and then we don't have to deal with it until we get off ME on our way home from Orlando.:woohoo: We usually get one of those nice suitcase guys to transport the luggage to the check-in terminal, but it would still be nice to not have to deal with it until we landed back home.
