Southwest Airline - seating question

We are flying Southwest to Disney in July. I have never flown on Southwest before and I understand that they do not have assigned seating. It will be me, my DH, DD (9) and DS (4). I want to make sure that, at least, each of us can sit with one of our children.

How does the seating work? What is the best way to make sure we can sit with our children? This will be my DS first flight and I don't want to traumatize him.

Because your child is 4, you will be able to preboard with your spouse and other child.

The seating procedure is well explained on the SWA website.

Thanks a bunch! I feel better now about boarding! I've heard horror stories about parents not being able to sit with their kids.

My one piece of advice is GET TO THE AIRPORT EARLY. I have been on SWA flights out of LAX and MCO where they suspended preboarding to everyone except handicapped pax due to the fact that there were so many families on board.

Good point Pinnie. Also, getting your passes online after 12:00 am the day of your flight is a good idea.
