Planning a trip for 7 people in Nov 2007. Was hoping to get the cheap internet fares on SOuthwest (flying out of Buffalo).

Is there a difference in the fares depending if you fly on a weekend or weekday? I looked at the southwest.com website but can only see fares up until May 2007. Weekend days seem to have the same internet price range as weekdays, but more of the desirable (non-stop flights) are unavailable on the weekends.

Is there a price difference, or is it more an issue of more people trying for the weekend days and thus more competition for the desirable flights?

It really depends but most of the weekend flights start to fill faster. The set up their prices just like the boarding. So many at the FunFare, somemany at the Internet rate and so forth.

the earlier you book the better rate you will get but sometimes they hold back the cheap rates knowing they will sell anyhow. We flew on a Sun last June and didn't get any sales or discounts. Our Oct trip was a Sat and Wedn. Our Dec trip was a Mon and Fri and the flights were from $44 to $59 each for the 4 with sales and Dings the Fri was the highest as it was the FRi before X-mas.

just keep a watch out for when they open dates. It was pointed out that it looks like it might be this thurs. and they normally open them at 11:00am on thursdays for some reason.

Have gotten low flares on weekends and weekdays from Philly.

Generally speaking, fares to resort destinations are likely to be lower from Tuesday thru Thursday morning, and on Saturday. The airlines normally charge a premium for weekend getaways that start on Friday (or Thursday nite) and end on Sunday.

I have flown out of and into BUF on Saturday and Thursday twice. I have also booked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday flights for our upcoming trip for my family and my sister.

They were all $59 pp each way.

I did get DINGs for the Sat and Thurs flights in Sept, and ended up paying $103 round trip. I flew the same days, same flight times even, for my cruise last week and did not get DINGed, so I paid 135.00 R/T.

With BUF, unless it is a holiday weekend, look for the $59 one way. Hope for a DING, but don't expect one unless it is a slow travel time.

I have found there is no cheaper day to fly out of here. :) They all seem to be $59 one way on SW.

THanks for all the replies.

So it sounds like as long as I book early enough, it doesn't matter too much which day I travel. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm going to have to book 7 tickets - will there be any problems booking that many with the cheap rate?

There might be. When I check for my family of four, sometimes I'll enter numbers lower than four to see if there are any discounts available for 1,2, or 3. Sometimes the lower fares show up for a smaller quantity of seats. Just something to keep in mind.
