If I have southwest flights booked and purchased the Early Bird Checkin, what happens to EBC if I have to change the days of our flight? Do I lose the EBC or can I get the agent to move the EBC to the new flights? My husband believes we will lose the EBC, does anyone here on Disboards know for sure? Thanks.

Per SWA..

"If an EarlyBird Check-In Customer chooses to change a flight, will the EarlyBird Check-In options transfer to the new flight?

It depends. EarlyBird Check-In is tied to the Customer’s reservation for which the EarlyBird Check-In purchase was made and will be transferred to the Customer’s new flight if he/she changes the flight at least 25 hours prior to the original flight’s scheduled departure time and so long as the change is to a flight that will depart in more than 25 hours. Since EarlyBird Check-In is associated with a reservation, any changes must be made within the same reservation record (same confirmation number) in which the Customer purchased EarlyBird Check-In."

Broken down yes you can change flights, but it must be 25 hours before your original flight and 25 hours before the new flight is scheduled to depart otherwise the system will just default you to the general check-in que.

Thanks Yellowjj, I didn't even think of checking SW, my DH and I were having a debate over this topic. I have flights booked and I want to add the EBC now and he wants to wait just in case we need to change the dates. That's why the Disboards are so great, there's always someone here that can help with our questions.

Be sure to note: that if you *change a flight* the EBCI will stay attached to the flight

I think: this is due to it (in part) still having the same confirmation number.

But if you were to *cancel a flight* and then (Book a new flight = new confirmation number)

*the EBCI will be lost*

Myself and others have learned this the hard way. It is in the EBCI Terms/Conditions

Yes, as ibob52 says, you must select the "Change Flight" option on southwest's webpage so that your confirmation number does not change. Your EBCI is tied to your confirmation number. If you choose the option to Cancel your flight and then make a new reservation, you will get a new confirmation number and your EBCI will be lost.
