Southwest is currently running a 72 hr sale with some nice prices for flights. I have a question about prices, hopefully someone can help me. The flight I have been wanting to book for the flight to Orlando had been running 159 at wanna get away. It was that price most Tuesdays. This week it is excluded from the sale and is in fact all the way up to 222. Does anyone know if this is a common practice during sales? Are they trying to get people to book the flights that are more empty? Thanks for your help!

I found that too! My Sunday flight I was researching is now @ $222 one way! Causing my family of 4 to cost almost $1500 to fly from SAT to MCO but was $1000. If I change my flight to Monday though (costing us one more night in a room about $150) my family of 4 now only cost $791 AND they're NON STOPS! So it's a win win for us. Good luck!

I just was able to book my round trip flight using my rapid rewards points with sale before the sale I didn't have enough points to cover:cheer2::cheer2:

I think it's a way to fill seats that aren't as popular....like in my case, I see some of the airtran operated flights are less than before, but the SWA flights are much higher than last week. I already bought, and sticking with original purchase unless I see a change for the better.... best bet is to BUY when you like the fares ok,as SWA tends to go up and down a lot....

I went ahead and booked our airfare too. Three round trip to Orlando for $593.40. Can't complain about that! I was around $900 before. I also booked my daughter's trip to her dad's for fall break for $49 each way, saving me over $100 round trip!

All my flights are Southwest and the one for my daughter is from Louisville to Chicago and is usually sold out. I put her on that flight last Saturday and it was overbooked. The Louisville to Orlando direct flights are usually booked full too.

Mine were cheaper with the sale so I rebooked :thumbsup2

SW just came to my home airport last month, maybe they were having a hard time filling flights?

We decided to book our flight to orlando but the good fare on the way back must have sold out before we booked so we didn't book return flight yet. I saved $250 booking today(have to buy 5 tix), so I am pretty happy!

Thanks! DD and I now have our flights home *I'd purchased our flights to Orlando a couple weeks ago*

$160 per person! Not bad at all. I purchased the tickets with a Southwest Gift Card that I bought at my Kroger store *4Xs fuel rewards going on - so I'll save a lot on a couple tanks of gas :cool1:

I rebooked my DHs return flight home today - saved about 2000 points! Are flight going down is sold our and my return flight actually went up. I always book the day flight times are released and check back frequently. The beauty with southwest is you can cancel and rebook!

Don't forget about the $20 voucher from coke rewards, it's only 100 points and can be used for everyone on your reservation up to 8 people. With that, I just paid $89 each way pp from Canton, Ohio to Orlando.

Just booked my Christmas flight; 2,000 points cheaper than usual. Now I just have to wait till they open up the fares after new year to book a flight back home.

Yahoo!! snagged a rt to orlando from philly non stop for less than 200 bucks. Not bad.

Boo hoo it's for travel only till 12/18/13 :snooty: we need 12/20 and after
Anybody ever see Southwest run sales Xmas week?

I looked but my points didn't change and my flight out was sold out anyway. However I did book my parents and one of our family friends on flights to Vegas for a really good deal.
