Southern fried chicken?

I am Canadian, and on a trip to Texas last Christmas I experience southern fried chicken (and chicken fried steak!) for the first time. Wow!

I don't get to the U.S. too often so I'd love to have some while at WDW. But I haven't seen it on any restaurant menus...

Can anyone help me out, pretty please?

Hey I would cook you some myself , but I am not sure where you can get this at WDW,but if I could guess ,maybe Trails End, And if you have a car you can drive and eat somewhere local. Kimmie In GEORGIA

I am pretty sure Trails End at Fort Wilderness has fried chicken. So does 50s Prime Time Cafe in DHS.

Trails End Buffet at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, as well at the Hoop De Do Revue (haven't done this one myself yet). The chicken at Trails End was fabulous almost as good as mine and, well Paula Deen's.

I can't think of anywhere else to get it on site. Oh, and have some good ole sweet tea with lemon that makes it soooo much better

I agree that Trails End and Prime Time 50's has the best fried chicken.

Check On Trails End, I have heard It may have a new Menu,so find out first and a good way is to call WDW dinning line and ask them. Kimmie

Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue has it. Also had BBQ ribs, baked beans, wonderful mashed potatos. All of the items are brought to your table to enjoy. It's a great show too. We really enjoyed. It does take 2 TS credits if you are using the DDP. It was very good though, in fact we are going again in September.

They also serve fried chicken at the Pop Century food court on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the Mom's Night Out special.. I've never had it, but heard it's good.

HDDR and 50's Prime Time are places we've seen/had the fried chicken. I'm sure there are several other places that offer it too.

True Southern Fried Chicken isn't going to be found anywhere on Disney property. Just like New York or Chicago pizza. The best place to get the meals you are talking about would be a Cracker Barrel. The chicken fried steak is called "country" fried steak but it's the same thing. There's a Cracker Barrel at 7878 Irlo Bronson Highway (Highway 192).

Well, what we had at Trails End sure was close and I know Southern Fried Chicken, being from Alabama and all. Living most of my life off of it.

I thought the fried chicken at the HDD was as good as the fried chicken I used to get when I lived in Oklahoma - that is pretty close to being south I think. I've never had it but DH said the fried chicken at the 50's was great as well. Trails End has the same chicken as the HDD.

I agree. A lot of people would say that they "know" Southern Fried Chicken, but they honestly don't, no matter their location.

And what at CB qualifies as Southern Fried Chicken? To be SFC, it needs to be bone-in and CB does not serve this. They have several chicken filets and tenders. I have a feeling that the chicken at PTC is real SFC, ie cooked in a skillet in shortening, not under pressure and not submerged in shortening.
BTW I cooked at CB for 22 years, and I can tell you there is very little country cooking going on there at all. Most everything is frozen or canned and other things are brought in ready to cook to keep anyone from getting the recipe. The vegetable soup comes in a huge cooking bag.

And since your location is California, just how do you know Southern Fried Chicken?
