Has anyone stayed at southern dunes?? :scratchin
we booked up with Thomas Cook, just wondering if anyone had any comments/advice etc!?

I have stayed at Southern Dunes, my cousin used to own a house there and we have stayed a few times hehe.
The only issue we had were in their house the pool wasn't heated and you had to sun onto the terrace where the pool was. Mainly due to the fact it was along the 13th fairway of the golf course and had the black netting the entire way around it to stop bugs and golf balls, unfortunetly it blocked the sun as well. But this may be different depending on where you are.
Other than that it is very nice, there is a Walmart litterally next to the community and there is a public pool in the middle near the houses as well.
Any questions you have just feel free to ask and i'll try to help

Personally think the villas are quite small in comparison to other communities and too far away from Disney for me when youre tired and hot at the end of the day!!

I must admit it is a bit of a drag from the parks, that was probably our main gripe about it.
But the plus side was we didn't have to pay as it was owned by a member of a family so we didn't mind too much

thanks. the driving doesnt bother us we knew it'd be a faiir drive from from disney.
i remember reading somewhere that there will be stroller high chair etc provided in villa, anyone know about that??
and what is the communal pool lke? as my son loves very shallow water (thanks to the fab kids pool at Pop last year - he thinks we're going back to the same pool!!)

We stayed there last summer. It was a lovely complex, although our villa was rotten. It had so many problems, and the air con broke and wasnt fixed for a week. There was FIFTEEN of us in the villa, so it was a bloody nightmare!

Theres a wallmart, amongst other amenities literally right next to the gatehouse.

It is a bit of a drive from the parks, but it was manageable. Just need to leave 30minutes extra. I would stay there again, however not in the same villa. We didnt even recieve any compensation from the villa owner who apparently knew about all the problems, and still advertised things on the website that werent there. We got moved into another villa for one night, which was like a palace though.

Never used to golf course, clubhouse or the shared pool so i cant comment on them.

We stayed here a few years ago and loved it. I know it was a bit further to drive but our villa was beautiful and wasn't overlooked and it was great having a Walmart on the doorstep.

As each home is individually owned and equipped there may not be a baby equipment package there unless you have the option to pay extra for it .Ask the tour operator for further details otherwise buy a cheapie stroller in the Wal Mart by SD as they are dear to hire in the parks. Can't help with the pool as I haven't stayed there.

We stayed ther last November and we are booked ther agan this November. As most people have already sayed, it is a drive, but not that bad.
Have fun.
