Hi Disney Family! For those who have done the Southern Caribbean port stops at Philipsburg St Maartens and San Juan Puerto Rico can you let me know if those are walkable port stops with things to do ie shopping, etc., from where Disney Ports or do you need to do an excursion or take a taxi or bus?
Any tips or tricks for these ports would be greatly appreciated.

San Juan is definitely walkable from the pier used for port stops (which is not the same port used for embarkation/debarkation). There is a shopping area right by the pier and two historic forts and many museums within a 25 minute walk.
We did this as well. Old San Juan is right at the port area.

San Juan is the best for a self-walking day. Old San Juan is full of history, food, drinks and shopping (and well cared for feral cats if that is your jam -we always have cat treats for our San Juan visit)!

St. Maartin - I have only been once and cannot picture the port at all. We took a cab to a wonderful beach on the Dutch side.

Same as others... we've been to San Juan a couple of times and just wander off on our own, but have only been to St Maartin the once. Luckily KLM was still flying 747s above Maho beach when we were there which was a must do for my husband, so that is all I remember of it. We immediately hopped in a cab and I don't remember the port at all.

Old San Juan is right there, so very walkable. Just a note that it's kind of hilly. My mom doesn't do well in heat and that coupled with the inclines made it a bit of a rough port stop for her. (If hills don't bother you then it's fine, I just like to mention so people are aware.)
