Southern California Fires?

My family homes are all okay. It was a pretty close call.

The air still smells of smoke, but it's not nearly as bad as Saturday. The winds are still faily calm, so the smoke is just lingering around. It's not blowing out of the area.

I'm really happy that you were able to be spared and thank you for the positive update. I was a few minutes away from postponing the trip 6 months and am glad I didn't.

We are still here in Anaheim at the Desert Inn. Yesterday we did not make it to the park until later in the day because part of our group was leaving and because it was just so darn hot. We did head towards Downtown Disney at about 2:45 and watched Madagascar. The sky was somewhat smoky again but at least the ash was not falling. We made it to the park after dark and all was fine.
Just peaking out the door this morning I can see blue skies again towards the park so hopefully some of the smoke is moving out.

I work in Newport Beach and the flags have been still all morning. Well now they are starting to blow pretty steadily easterly. This should really help clear the air out.

I just hope they are able to get the rest of the fires out soon.

the news guy just said the air quality is horrible, and stay inside as much as possible, if you go outside, wear a mask.

The winds were calm yesterday and they were able to do a great job with the air attack on the fires. It's really something else to see a huge DC-10 flying so low. There still fires burning in Diamond Bar which is east of DL, but it's about 20% contained. I'm guessing they'll be able to get a good hold of it today.

Diamond Bar is actually N of Disneyland. Around 20-30 miles North.

Yesterday, DL was fine. Cant smell much, the weather was nice. Sat though, was terrible. :|

Thank you so much for the updates and Im really glad you are all ok and your family! I really hope things calm down for us .....Im very nervous...but sounds like it might be getting better :) keep us updated when you can :yay:

Was at Disneyland yesterday and everything was fine. It didn't even start to get smoky until later in the evening and even that wasn't too bad. No falling ash at all. We brought particle masks with us, just in case, but didn't need them at all.

Today in the area is still pretty good. The sky is lightly smoky right now (I can see from Anaheim to Long Beach), but not nearly as nasty as it was Saturday and Sunday. Still, the air quality is unhealthy, but as long as you don't go running around like a crazy person, you'll be okay.

I am happy to hear that they are making some progress with these fires. I dont live in CA but have family and friends there and I have been reading this post for updates. Glad everyone is okay! :)

Im going this afternoon (hopefully) so I can let you know what the conditions are. I hope the ash isnt too bad, because my daughter is getting over a cold.

Air quality is getting better everyday. The air is still filled with a light haze (smoke and smog), but not bad at all. The fires are still burning in Diamond Bar and as of last night, it was 60% contained. But they also said 1,000 homes are still being threatened! :scared1:

I'd say unless you have asthma or other health concerns, I'd be just a little concerned. The winds are still fairly calm and as soon as we get a good off shore breeze going, it'll blow the smoke out of here.

Hopefully and prayfully by Thursday, the fires will be out and we'll get a good ocean breeze. Temps have started to significantly drop today and are suppose to continue over the next couple of days and the humidity levels are suppose to go up. This is all good!

There are some concerns that, as the winds start to come off the ocean again, they'll blow some of the smoke back into the area. Right now, it's just generally hazy with smoke, but not horrible. Still unhealthful quality, but about the same as yesterday.

it has cleared up a lot. but the air quality still has particles in it. You may not smell smoke, but they are there. i'm still waiting till next week to go.

Arrived today (Tue) and spent the afternoon, 2pm to 6pm, at DL. I didn't smell anything, see anything or feel anything out of the ordinary in the park. It was a pleasant trip from LA to Anaheim, and so glad I didn't cancel, it was a great day.
