Southern California Fires?

Since I posted the above, the smoke is now hanging down to the ground in our area and it's lightly snowing ash. This is awful.

We are heading to DL tomorrow from Sacramento. We will be driving I-5, where can we find highway/interstate closure information?

What part of town ore you in Magix? I'm in Lakewood and we are getting smoke and ash like crazy. I'm staying inside for the rest of the day.

Stay safe everyone!

Try the CHP website.

I'm in Fullerton, just on the border with La Habra and La Mirada.

OH dang! We are coming in a week. I hope it's all "blown over" and put out by then :(

 To everyone near the fires. I'm watching them on the news. It's terrible and so sad. :sad1:

Stay safe everyone.

DS and her DH in Brea are being evacuated right now!! :scared1:
DS and her family in Yorba Lina are packing. :scared1:

We'd like to help, but we hear traffic has come to a stand still and people are abandoning their vehicles on the 241 freeway!!

I just heard that, too. They say that there are so many people trying to take Harbor Blvd over the hill to the 60 fwy (to avoid the closure of the 57 fwy in Brea) that it's taking an hour and a half to get over. Wow.

We were in the park this morning from 8:00 to about 11:00AM. We left once the ash started falling. Air quality is probably dangerous for sensitive groups.

We're wondering if Disneyland might give us a free day since the conditions were not safe for kids to be outside (this reminds us of early summer in Northern California)

It's a bummer we lost a day at the park, but that's nothing compared to the families who lost their homes. We hope the firefighters can contain the fires soon.

Another website for fire and traffic info: http://www.knx1070.com They've got links to Google maps of the fire and evacuation areas, as well as freeway closures.

Actually, I didn't mean California Highway Patrol, I meant California Dept. of Transportation (http://www.dot.ca.gov/). There you can find updated info on highway closures. as well as the other sites PP mentioned.

as much as it sucks, it really isn't disney's fault. People knew going in today, we've had these fires, and horrible winds the past 24 hours, its a given.

Here are pics from my home in huntington beach, about 15 miles west of disneyland.

it's ugly.

I am so sorry for those who have lost their homes or are being effected in any way.

Dh called DLH an hour ago and they said that southbound I-5, north of DL, is still open.

Do you think the parks may be closed tomorrow?

If the fires in OC keep up overnight, I suppose there's a chance they could close the parks for the health of the cast members. Just talked with my friend and he still wants to go tomorrow. I'm surprised, because we'll be taking his 4 and 7 year old kids. He says he's going to buy particle masks tonight.

We're supposed to meet for breakfast at 9am, across the street from DLR, so we'll do that and, if I think it's too bad for our health, I'll shut the idea down.

I don't think they'll close the parks. About 4 years or so there were some horrible fires in the Anaheim Hills, and the sky was dark over the Disneyland area, and ash falling, bad air quality -- parks were still open.

MouseAdventure is scheduled for tomorrow, and there will be hundreds of us scrambling around in the heat & bad air on a big scavenger hunt, and that isn't being called off either.

Going off of accuweather.com to judge air quality in the LA area it says it's moderate. Anyone think it's worse? By the pics posted I would think it would be worse. Is there another DL number to call to get weather or air quality info?

Yeah, I'd say it's worse. At least in the north OC area. There's falling ash and the smoke is down to the ground (looking outside my front window, it's hazy), so the quality is bad.
