Southern California Annual Passport?

I am just finishing my first year as an AP holder with the Southern California Select Annual Passport. When I logged in this morning to renew, I was given the option of renewing my SoCal Select AP or upgrading to one of the higher-tier APs, which I expected. But -- I was also given the option to upgrade to the Southern California AP, which I was under the impression wasn't sold anymore (I thought that you could only renew SoCal Passports that had been purchased years ago). Is this a new change, or the way that it has always worked? I bought the SoCal AP, but I am ever-so-slightly wary that it was a glitch and my purchase will be turned down! Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, are the discounts for the SoCal AP the same as for the SoCal Select? It's a little hard to find info about the SoCal other than the blockout dates...

Hi. It's not a glitch. It's been this way since they stopped offering the regular Socal and posters on here have done it without a problem.

I didn't realize that you could renew from a different pass to the no longer offered passes. It is also offered to those who have a higher level pass?

What is the cost and benefit difference between the SoCal Select AP and the SoCal AP?

The difference is blockout days. The So Cal is $80 more, but since it's only for renewal and you get a $20 discount vs $10 for the Select it's really $70 more if you renew.

Thanks, everyone! (Especially Figment for that discounts link!) I don't know how it works if you have a higher-tier pass, since I could only see how it would work for me as a SoCal Select holder.

Just for reference about the price difference: to renew yesterday at the SoCal Select level was $319, and to renew up to a SoCal was $439. (My boyfriend decided to stick with the SoCal Select to save the $120, but I decided to upgrade since I go to the park more often than he does. I've also been moping around without park access this summer, and it makes me really want those extra days into next June!)
