Southeast Coast Storm?

I was at Disney when SuperStorm Sandy was rolling up the east coast. It did increase the wind quite a bit and there was a cool undercurrent but that was about it. I just remember hearing all of the northeasterners talking about how they couldn't get home. One the one hand it was "what better place to be stranded?" but on the other I felt really bad for them not knowing what they were going home to.
