SouthAlabama5er's Pre Trip & Trip Report 2/14 - 2/21

43 foot what? Is that legal? I didn't know they made them any bigger than 40.

Ok, you got three slides showing in the pic. Are there more slide outs on the other side? If so, I'm dying to know.

PS - Hubby wants to know if you need an intercom in that thing?

As far a it being legal, haven't had any problems yet. I do have a class A CDL so I should be in the clear.

It has one huge slide on the other side with 5 or 6 windows in it. I'll post a picture in the morning. It's nice when you can get a good spot over looking a lake.

My wife likes the intercom idea, I can see her wheels turning...

Hey man, do you have to have those trucks driving in front of you with the flashing yellow lights?

You making my 32bhds look like Ed's popup...(no offense Ed, I like popups)

As far as the Bandit is concerned, I'll take the car, but the mustache and hat gotta go...

Haha nah I don't need any pilot cars, but if you had the Bandit Trans Am I'd get you to run blocker haha

Hey I like popups too, any type of camper for that matter.

Got the sheets off the beds in the washer now,

Trailer is washed, man that's a job right there. At the dentist now waiting, then I have to run by Sam's Club to pick us some drinks and then the RV dealer to pick up a new water filter.

Very nice! I'm going to have to google the floor plan in that large Marge! Maybe I should reconsider building and just buy a 43 fter for my future homestead...
Be safe on your travels.

We've had pretty good luck with our Sandpiper, it's a 376BHOK a rear bunk house. We love the 300 loop at the Fort but think it may be a little tight.
Ya, I really like the 100 loop. My 30 ft BH fits in there fine, but the the toy hauler would be a bit tougher.

I like the idea of my DS having his own place to hang out, but I don't like it at the back of the trailer. I really like the view of the "rear lounge" models with windows on 3 sides. My DS is 17 now and I figured he will quit camping with us as much at some point. Although mt DW says he will be staying with us until he's 30. :worship:

Here is the floor plan I have been looking at. There are only a handful of manufacturers I've found with this.

It's 42' 11" long. The hall way going from the living area to the bedrooms looks like the longest mile.

Teamubr, I like that floor plans, it's different. I wanna say I looked a Sandpiper laid out like that. The bunk room had it'd own slide control incase you didn't need it. 42' 11" isn't that bad, haha! There is a campground on a lake about 7 mile from my house and last year we went I towed our jetski behind the camper, and that how I found out that double towing is illegal here in Alabama. The Trooper was nice enough (or I played dumb enough) for him to just give me a warning.

I went through what I all had packed up, I wanted to make sure I had enough extention cords for our Mickey lights,

Wiped down some in the camper,

That's the mileage from our house...
We are getting the Disney fever around here!!

So I'm just sittin' here, reading along and watching all these great threads on the Camping Board, not really paying attention...

And then I come across this...

You making my 32bhds look like Ed's popup...(no offense Ed, I like popups)

I think I've been smacked down....

(the following is meant in fun)

Okay then, all you big macho men with your big strong trucks and your humungous campers, take a look at my NEXT camper!

 Bama Ed

PS - wait for it...

PPS - nice pix Randy

Ed and Randy,

It could be worse. You could have to get this around the Fort. And Ed, your's is cute enough, you could just roll it in the back and I'd take it with me. Go ahead and drive your truck in too. That would be just as easy. It's only 48 ft long, so you might have to leave the jet ski at home.

I use to tow this or the team toy hauler to all the races. And that's my dad coming around the rear, not me. He's 84, works full time and is probably in better shape that I am.

Bama Ed,
I had feeling you was gonna say something like that! All day I've been like "wait for it.... wait for it........"

Ed,

I'm still waiting. It just swirls and says "processing". I wonder if it's a Chrome thing. I'll try IE.

I'm wondering when it will get to tiggerdad.

I mean, I know he's in Mississippi and all, but It came up on my laptop - I bet it's about ready to come up on his momentarily.

Of course, the barbed wire Internet connection into Mississippi from Sumter County, Alabama may be just now delivering the image to tiggerdad. No doubt he will have something pithy to say.

(Jim, I know you're from out-of-state so Randy and I will let you know that we have a saying in Alabama.)

"We may be ranked 49th in a lot of things, but Thank God for Mississippi".:upsidedow

Oil change time, went and filled up both tanks, $340 for 131 gallons of diesel.

It's not the barbed wire internet that is so slow (actually, the hogwire was faster...), it's the fact that I have to wait for my neighbors here at the complex to get done with it first so I can use it.

Actually, being last has its advantages. Usually our gas prices are the cheapest in the country, mainly because nobody with an internal combustion engine wants to come here. Our weather is usually less stormy, because even the storms have standards. We are the best at camping, mainly because a lot of us live in campers full time. Our cost of living is the cheapest in the country, I mean, come on, a box of shotgun shells only cost about $8 and you can feed a family of 4 for about 2 months on that.

But, at least the largest river in the country is named after us...
or, is it that we were named after the river?

We are a favorite tourist destination for a lot of things...
like mosquitoes, opossums, woodpeckers (imagine that), people who have chionophobia (I is educated), and people who are seeking to commit suicide by boredom (quick death in this state).

Here's a photo I took this past November on my way back home from Fort Wilderness...

Oh, and for anybody taking offense to this, get in line...I live here. It's my "dead last in everything" state. Me and my cousin (I mean my wife), are proud of it.

P.S.
Hey Ed, you look up Chionophobia yet?

Hey Randy, gotta love the oil and fuel upkeep man. I am going to refrain from letting my wife see the pics of your camper. I don't want to be talked into going back and looking for something bigger now that I upgraded trucks.

From the size of your trailer you need a Pete with a Cat to pull it. As for the Ford aspect, I hope it's a smooth ride. Wait, you need Peterbilt for that too. :rotfl2:
