Just wanted to highlight an unexpected, wonderful benefit from our recent December exchange to the South Seas Club @ South Seas Resort in Captiva, Florida. The 2-bedroom condo, a fairly standard, but very clean, unit has extraordinary views of the revamped 9-hole golf course @ South Seas and distant views of the ocean beyond. The great benefit is that owners and renters of accommodations @ South Seas Club get free golf (normally $50 for 9 holes). The only thing you pay for is the $15 cart fee per person. We played three times during our week (from all three sets of tees) and really enjoyed each round. And you can walk from the condo to the first tee in less than a minute. And as a DVC exchange, you are NOT charged the daily resort fee ($12 or $15?) that other guests pay. Definitely a good exchange to put on your to-do trip-list for the future!
While there are still some repairs to be made at the resort (after Hurricane Charley wrecked the place a couple years ago), it is remarkably restored in most areas. The new main pool area is also gorgeous. The staff comes around and hands out frozen pineapple spears and watermelon chunks on a stick...very refreshing! Many of the shops at the resort's entrance are still vacant, but a Lilly Pulitzer store, a Starbuck's, and a Captiva Provisions store are open as well as a couple of others.
Highly recommended is the Island Cow restaurant on Sanibel. We went twice!

Good to read this review.

What type exchange is this? And how many points? TIA.

Glad you enjoyed South Seas Resort. We have been vacationing there yearly since 1986 and really love it there. The Island Cow is also one of our favorites !!!

The exchange was done through DVC Member Services and had to be for a one week period: Friday to Friday and was 270 points.
As for kids' activities, I saw lots listed. We were 4 adults so I didn't pay too much attention, but did see a special kids' club/activity building near the pool. There were plenty of kids at the pool with their families and the beach is spectacular for shelling or sandcastling!

Ahhhh..... Captiva!

We were going there yearly until we bought DVC. I still miss it. We would rent a cottage in the village and be able to walk to the beach and many restaurants.... The Mucky Duck, The Bubble Room, RC Otters, etc. Good times! :cloud9:

Although these days the cottages are getting bigger!!
