FYI the South Wing will be closed for refurbishment from May 30-October 31.
My favorite? Its been awhile since we stayed there 2000 but I dont have a favorite. Most of our stays were in the North Wing, but I never noticed any huge difference between the two. I guess I'd pick the North Wing by default since I have more familiarity with it, but both are fine.
then take the North wing. You can walk to the MK gate from there. (It is not a short walk, so bring the stroller if little ones are going.) If you can "request" a certain area and plan to use the monorail, then ask to be in a room in the south end OF the north wing. (The wings are NOT connected to the tower so you must use a walkway to get to it, then take the elevators or escalators up to the concourse. In the mornings, I would defintely walk to MK, but if you are tired at the end of yur day, the monorail's first stop is CR (last stop is MK in AM after pick-up at the tower.) good luck and HTH.
We just got back last week from our first stay in the North Wing of the CR. We had a ground floor room, (number 7144.) We loved being able to walk over to the MK, especially since it seemed to take forever to get there on the monorail from the CR in the morning. From the CR to the MK, there are quite a few stops, since it has to pick up people at the Poly and GF on the way to the MK. When you're eager to get there in the morning, those stops seemed somewhat inconvenient. Coming back in the afternoon or evening, the CR is the first stop on the monorail! We also liked being able to walk out of the building and hop right into our car without paying to valet. Someone on these boards had posted that it was much easier to get to your car from the South Wing, but I can't see that there'd be any difference. We loved the CR, and will definitely stay there again! We didn't go to the Food and Fun Center, but my DH did hit the coffee place in the lobby to get our morning lattes. The North Wing is closer to the Food and Fun Center, which might help you make your decision. We were prepared to be in either wing, but when the CM at the front desk asked, I said I'd like to try the North Wing. We found it to be fine, and on a side note, didn't see anything that looked rundown or in need of refurbishment. The gift shops were great, and we loved the theming!
stayed at the North Wing in October...easy walk to the MK and he Contemporary's food court...room was huge with two queens and fold out couch...if I stayed at the Contemporary again would definitely request North Wing!
