Has anyone been to South Africa with kids? Which parts of the country did you visit and for how long did you stay? What did you do? What did your kids enjoy the most?

I went last summer, but not with kids. I stayed in Sandton, a suburb of Johannesburg. I'd advise you doing the same if you are visiting Johannesburg.

We went Spring Break 2006...my kids were 6,8, 10 at the time. We flew into Cape Town, spent about 3 days there...then flew to a Bush Lodge near Kruger National Park and spent about 5 days there. We LOVED all of it!

We stay very, very busy on vacation, no lounging by the pool, or very little anyway. We swam with the penguins at Boulder Beach, boys loved that. We went to the top of Table Mountain. Went to Cape of Good Hope. Hmmm... I don't remember what else in Cape Town. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast there that was lovely.

The Bush Camp that we stayed at was awesome. We were there only guests at the time, the try to keep it at one group at a time. Olaf was our personal Guide everywhere we went. He drove us and was our tour guide for all activities. We did one ALL DAY game drive in Krueger National Park and several in the smaller reserves closer to the lodge. We also visited an Animal Rehabilitation Center and a Cat Rescue Center, and an African Village. Olaf's wife, Stephanie, is a gourmet cook and a fun, lovely person. They treated us so well. It was a lot of fun. My boys were talking about that trip just yesterday.
