When I first visited Walt Disney World I was very lucky to eat at the Soundstage Restaurant at Hollywood Studios and it was such a neat and awesome restaurant where you could meet a variety of characters while you ate and while you ate music from Disney films played in the background. The characters I got to meet at Soundstage Restaurant when I went there were Genie Quasimodo Meeko Aladdin and Esmeralda and it was so fun for me. It's a shame this restaurant no longer exists in Disney's Hollywood Studios because it was so cool. Why did Soundstage Restaurant close? Because it seemed that they were the top restaurant for character breakfasts

can't answer as to why it closed down; i can only agree it was one of the best character meals in all the parks and some resorts too for that matter; i loved the way they formed a conga line and all the kids paraded through the restaurant along with the characters; and just up those stairs on the right was Aladdin's lamp to rub and make a wish, remember?

Went many times.

When it first opened it like a food court with different windows for different foods. Our first visit was during the Beauty & the Beast theme, with Belle & the Beast walking around greeting guests.

At one point there were several characters from Pocohontas and Hunchback. Quasimodo is one of my son's favorites so he was excited. We were off peak dining and literally had about 6 characters at our table.

Later years it was changed to more of a traditional character meal. Reservations, server etc. We went in 1994 with friends to meet Aladdin characters. Genie and Jafar came to our table. After done you walked upstairs (likely area of the old Catwalk Bar) to meet Aladdin and Jasmine.

Here is a short article from Studios Central but the interesting part is this ...

" An interesting bit of trivia is that there were golden camels at the front entrance of the restaurant during the Aladdin years, and these camels were the same camels from the Aladdin Parade that was briefly at the Disney-MGM Studios and the same camel you can find in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom currently."

Soundstage Restaurant

Still have these

Oh yes! We have a fun photo of our then-young teen son with Jasmine. He looks so embarrassed!

Soundstage Restaurant
I'm so glad you mentioned this-the way it was at first-that's the way I remembered it, not as a traditional character meal, but like a food court with different windows. Also, we have a picture of Goofy, sitting and playing at a piano. That was in the fall of 1989.

I can agree that Soundstage Restaurant was the best restaurant in Walt Disney World and it's a shame that they closed it because you not only got good breakfast but great character interaction too. I don't recall seeing Aladdin's lamp there when I went but I do remember the cast member announcing when people's tables were ready like this "The Genie or "various character is ready for Dodger" and you sat at your table and that I thought was so cool and they also would give stuff to the kids. Like I got a paper Hunchback Of Notre Dame costume mask when I first went to Soundstage Restaurant

I remember this! My Mom took me and my sister there in 1995. I have to go through our photo album because we have pictures from this meal. I was 10 years old at the time and remember like it was yesterday.

This is what I remember too, we ate there in Sept of 1990. I have pictures in our honeymoon photo album.

This place is hardly mentioned, so I was happy to see the title of the thread. I worked here on my college program in the fall of 1993. It was the food court style, Aladdin theme then, and they launched the Aladdin character breakfast near the end of my stay. I've heard the Aladdin soundtrack many times. The kitchen abutted the Brown Derby kitchen and they shared walk-in fridge/freezer space. Catwalk bar overlooked the dining area.

This is 1994 when a full TS character meal. Genie and Jafar came to your table. After done you went upstairs to meet Aladdin and Jasmine. Nice stairway with decorated landing and then decorated meet room. I have to dig for rest of photos from early years.

^We ate very off peak and had multiple characters come to table at same time and stay for awhile. I think at one point we had about six there.

The chaos of genie and meeko together is not lost on me at all lol. Love that you got to meet them alongside Quasimodo and Governor Ratcliffe….one big plus about DLR was seeing all the characters walk around! I miss that at WDW
