So I have seen a few posts on BCV requests and it got me thinking...

I know that MS won't take a request for Epcot view anymore (for whatever the real reason is...) and I seem to recall that there was discussion about what to request if you DID really want that side of the building.

I am usually quite ambivalent about view and such, as long as I get my nonsmoking request, I am happy!

So, what was the result of this? I seem to remember someone talking about requesting "road view". Anyone know the gist of it? Just curious and I don't have time to wade through a search right now.

Happy Sunday evening!

I asked this at the members' meeting on Dec 1. The GM of BC/BCV said to request a "road view". Then, three other attendees at the meeting came up to me after the meeting and said, "You need to request room numbers." Well, I cannot imagine asking a CM to write a series of room numbers on my ressie!! No wonder WDW CM's do not like DVC members!!!

I would request "road view", and I might even add "road view over canal". Say you like watching the turtles or something. I don't think I am going to request any views anymore...the Epcot view I had last time was WONDERFUL!! And, I would love to have it every time....but, getting views I want at BCV has been more of a hassle than it is worth.

I think I am just going to be happy that I am there!!!

Beca, I hear you. We don't usually request views. While an Epcot view would be cool, it's not going to make or break my vacation if it doesn't happen. I usually stick to nonsmoking and take what I am given.

Like I said, I was reading some BCV request posts and remembered this and couldn't remember what the new term was if thos people wnated something like that.

We had one of the road views, and I would never ask for it. I do think the Soarin building is an eyesore, however when I was out on the balcony, I just choose to ignore it. I did watch some of the fireworks, and heard the music from Illuminations from the balcony.

We liked our studio of the grassy area that has the BC across the grass. We both enjoyed people watching.

We like anything on the Epcot side. Actually my DH likes poolview too. Anyway the CMs at MS have helped me with the wording of my request. It was something like woods view I think. I called it swamp view once and a CM laughed but put it down in other words. :teeth:

Anyway, I would ask MS to help you with the request.

I also really enjoyed the Epcot view we had our first two stays. This year we ended up with a third floor pool view. (Yawn) No complaint but the view was nothing to get excited about. I had asked for a view "facing Epcot area" or something like that. This year so far I've just asked for fifth floor and hope to get lucky.

Less-Than-Serious Suggestions:
-- Ravine View
-- Backstage View
-- View formerly known as Epcot

Seriously, I think those are great Erik. :teeth:

Let us know how you make out, Beca. ;)

There must be some members requesting "road view" now; maybe that's why I had a rather strange encounter with a MS CM about BCV views. I asked for a quiet area, "I don't want the view of the road like I had once", I told her. Well, she got rather defensive, "BCV is NOT next to a road!" I thought her response came a little too quickly and a little too defensively. Maybe she just had dealt with too many members who wanted a "road view".

When DH and I stayed at BCV, we requested our Epcot view when we checked in, and were accomodated. But that was a few years ago....

But, I don't know if I would necessarily ask for it again! :sad2: Spaceship Earth could be seen from a distance - but basically our view was of cars rushing by on that road behind the BC. Don't get me wrong....it did not put a damper on our stay!! ;)

I love that view of Spaceship Earth. I don't even notice the cars going by, especially at night when SE is at it's most beautiful. Of course, I only like that side if I am on a higher floor. I did ask for it for my upcoming trip and MS put it down as the service road side of the building.

I love how they call that road a "service road" as if it just carried golf-carts and light vehicles.

This is a legitimate road filled with buses, cars, and noise. Give me the pool view any day!

My basic request is non-smoking upper floor but what rooms would I absolutely NOT want? Pool view, Epcot view, Beach Club view seem all ok to me. What views are just really noisy, inconvenient or annoying. I've never stayed at the Villas before. As far as the Beach Club (hotel) goes we've always requested the hall at the furthest end of the hotel (near the quiet pool) on the ground floor since it has the quickest access to Epcot and the Boardwalk. Anything close to that at the BCV? I don't think so by looking at the maps.

When you are talking about "close" to the end of the beach club near Epcot, nothing at the villas is really that far away.

I think maybe that CM needs a "break"!! Why on Earth would anyone get defensive over a view request?? That's just silly!!

In a past thread I said I'd sell if I couldn't request an Epcot view, so we did.

Requests at BCV are flat out ignored now anyway, we haven't had any of our requests met the last three trips down there. I'm tired of having to argue with the front desk staff to get a suitable room. It's not right that someone who's not an owner at BCV can make a reservation less than 7 months out, show up at 8am, then get the room I requested because it's ready for occupancy. I'm tired of being stuck with the leftovers because I get there at 3pm. We enjoy our time in the room and our requests are very important. We were thinking of adding on at SSR before we sold our BCV but decided not to purchase DVC again until that stupid room ready policy is dropped and requests at 11 months are given a priority again. Maybe room ready could be a request, I'd rather wait to get the room I requested.

We had the 'road view' last fall. Great view of the EPCOT fireworks but not really much to see of EPCOT itself. Probably why they are saying we can't request "EPCOT' view as the title is a little misleading. It is better however if you are on a higher floor. I definitely would refer to the lower floor views in that same area as 'swamp view'. In fact, that is how we have always referred to them !

That said, we loved the view and the resort. I'm in favour of not requesting a special view unless you are bringing friends/family and want them to experience it a certain way. Otherwise, try them all. You may be pleasantly surprised. If you're not,...there is always next time. That's the wonderful thing.
