Sorta complicated pass question

Hi,

My DD is on the CP right now, and we're going to visit over the holidays. Of course, there are black out dates on the guest passes she gets - Magic Kingdoms are Dec 17-Jan 1. Epcot Dec 24-31. Studios Dec 24-31. Animal Kingdom Dec 24-30. So here's my question. If she uses her guest passes (which are park hoppers) for us all to go to AK on the 31st, and that's where we start the day, will those specific passes not work to hop, or do they issue actual park hoppers? She has to work her overnight shift at MK on NYE, and we would love to be with her, but she can't go into MK before her shift . . .

Like I said, it's complicated!

Wow! This is an interesting question. My guess is that even though they're parkhoppers, they won't work if it's a blackout for the other parks.

How come she can't go into MK before her shift?

From what she understands, she isn't allowed to get US in on blackout days, and she's also not allowed to get HERSELF in. I wonder if that's right?

She, herself, will be allowed into the parks even on the block out days. The only reason she would not be let in is if MK stops letting all guests get into the parks anymore. Even if that happens, if she has to work, of course she will definitely be allowed in, there just might be a delay as they may check to make sure she's really working. Sometimes MK gets so full they close the park to all guests because they reach capacity.

As for you guys, the family. If she gets you into Animal Kingdom earlier that day, and the other three parks are all blocked out, you will NOT be able to enter any park but Animal Kingdom. Even though your ticket says it's a Park Hopper, the system knows that it was issued as a free cast member ticket and will know not to let you into the "blocked out" parks. I worked main entrance and can't tell you how many families thought they could cheat the system by doing that (not that I think you wanted to cheat the system, I'm sure that wasn't at all what you were thinking, but I'm just saying there were people who did that). Your cast issued tickets only work in parks that are not blocked out.

So, in short. Your park hoppers will not act as park hoppers on the Dec 31st. They will only work in Animal Kingdom. Your DD will be fine to get to work on New Year's Eve or whenever she has to work. :)

Thanks - that was a very clear and nice explaination! We'll buy regular hoppers for those days, and I hope all the CP'ers are having great times!

Make sure to have your daughter buy the park hoppers for you at company d! She gets a discount there :)

KCMiller- We ran into the same problem when we went down the last time your marching band performed there - ended up just buying hoppers so we weren't limited to where we could go. We realized ahead of time it wouldn't work out, so we had our neighbors go down in November and use up DD's extra days on the Maingate - couldn't let them go to waste!!! Now we are waiting to see the block out dates around Easter to see if we have to do the same thing. Her resort and dining discounts are still worth it though, even if you have to buy hoppers.
