Just curious. On my last cruise the food was pretty bad. Very sad, especially since it was highly recommended. (Had a blast anyway.) But what I want to know, and what will give me an idea of what to expect in some regards is, were the bagels the packaged kind like Lenders or were they more like REAL authentic bagels?

I appreciate your input.

I have always enjoyed the food on DCL. The bagels are not the small Lender type bagel, but are larger, and softer.

Thank you. Gives me hope that the rest of the food will be at least above pedestrian. (sp?)

How long ago did you cruise? Most of the menus have gone through some major revamping. We've been particularly impressed with the changes at Parrot Cay, which was always my least favorite. They've made some great enhancements to the buffets, too. I'm not much of a "buffet person," but now I usually eat at Beach Blanket rather than Triton's for lunch. If it's been a while since you've sailed, hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.

Compared to the other lines I've cruised, the food is great. Of course, I enjoy some items more than others, but there is always plenty of good food, high quality food around.

The bagels are real...so is the steak and lobster! I even tried the sugar free desserts last time...excellent!

Since you have the big red boat experience....DCL is like 5 times better!!!

Thank you everyone.

Actually the most recent cruise experience was one week on the Carnival Triumph. This past August.

I hesitated making reservations on that line because I had heard the food was pretty awful. However I was assured that Carnival had made great strides in recent years and that the food had greatly improved.

I wonder what it was like before, because my hubby and I found the food to be overall VERY lackluster and in some cases digusting. (Hot cheesecake?) (Believe it or not the escargot was pretty yummy and the free pizza was a life saver. )

We did NOT let a poor food experience ruin our fun, we had a great time. If it were just myself on the trip this really wouldn't be such a big deal. However, this is my mother's first cruise and she is paying for the trip. I would like to see her enjoy everything about cruising.

One good thing is that if you can't decide on an entree, get both - or if you get one and don't like it, ask for another. It sort of spoils us!!
