I have to admit that my DW and I are super confused about Rider Swap, with and without FPs. I have searched and we each just interpret things differently so we are more confused than ever..so I am hoping someone can help me out and explain how we are going to manage this.

This is our first full family trip with our 10 year old, our 7 year old and our 2 year old twins.

So, we have some tricky situations to figure out.

So, we all 4 have a FP to Soarin', which is a total family favorite, can you explain how Rider Swap works with this? Or is it a moot point with a FP? Should DW just take the older kids or one of the older kids through the FP line and then I go through FP after either alone or with the other older kid?

Then in the case of a non FP, we don't have a FP to Rockin Roller Coaster..so how does Rider Swap work that way? Do we have to take the twins all the way through the line? The issue is the stroller...our 2 year olds will bug EVERYONE in line..and since it's not really a kid ride, I feel bad...so I didn't know if the CM outside would recognize we had a Rider Swap situation or do we all have to go through the line together?

Rider Swap is really stressing us out because it's our key to trying to have a full family experience for the older kids since they will have to sit through It's a Small World at least one..

Thanks all...the age gaps are really throwing us for a loop.

One thing... kids who are too short to ride an attraction are not allowed to go through the waiting line, anyway.

Hi,
Don't get too caught up looking for definitive answers on Rider Switch. The documentation out there on the Disney site is pretty limited, and what is there points to it not being as useful as it is. Most CMs are not strict at all about it. If you go up, and you legitimately have someone that is too small to ride, then some of you can go, while others wait behind. Even if the "some" are going by FP+. You get a ticket which is good for the holder and 2 guests. So then when the others return, now you go on... with your FP. But, since you have a rider switch ticket, you can actually re-take the kids who went on with the first parent.

Basically, it is nice cuz this way you don't have to go on alone, you can re-take your kids w you for the rest of your fast pass.

Without FP+... one of you rides w the kids via standby (yes, you have to go thru the line, just like everybody else does), then when done, the other of you rides via Rider Switch, but again you'll have the +2 so you can take your kids w you a 2nd time. The 2-year-old and stroller do not go thru the line. You take the baby and go get ice cream instead at the shop just around the corner from Rockin'. When your standby family is done they find you, then you go on (with the older kid) via the Rider Switch pass thru the FastPass lane.

It works well, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's not something to stress out about, it can only help you. Believe me we've been in the kids-too-young group for a long time and it is a lifesaver for such parents.

It does not get you on more... It will get your kids on a few extra times.

Rider Swap EXPLAINED

Ok..thank you for that clarification...so if I was able to get a Rider Switch Pass, I would obtain that from the CM outside of the ride?

Thanks for the link..I hadn't read that site before..they have a new Rider Switch page which is linked from there..but good information.

I have a 10,7,2 year old as well when we go in September.

Everyone has to have a fast pass for ride. So my wife will go,on soarin with the 2older kids and I wait with baby, Then I get right back in fast pass line with the kids again. So kids can ride everything twice. Which is cool

Just all walk up together get ur swap pass.
The only thing I don't know is when second parent goes back to ride. Can they take 2 people or 3 people with them. I think 3.

I using it a lot. So my kids get extra rides

It is good for the holder +2 guests. You can take 2 ppl with you, total of 3.

Thanks that helps a bunch. Sounds like a very nice and great system...the older kids will be reminded of their double bonus situation while they accommodate the little ones on Dumbo, Small World, etc. Sounds like a true life saver..thanks for the info.

Ok cool. Can the 2 additional be anyone with a fast pass in party

I ask cause my mother is going too. Could she take kids first. Then when I go back take one kid and my wife. Would like to ride a ride or 2 with my wife too...lol

Or if my mom gets there and chickens out on tower tof terror. Could she get the swap and just give it to us to use. She still has fast pass and just not using?

The +2 can be anyone. Pick two random strangers and take them if you like. :) The 2 additional certainly do not need a fast pass at this point... that would defeat the purpose.

Definitely, that's pretty much how you should play it. While your mom goes with the kids on Soarin via Standby, you and wife should get the Switch pass, then take the baby over to Nemo or Imagination while they ride. Pocket the pass, then come back whenever you're done, find your mom, hand over the baby, and ride w you, your wife, and your son.

Or if my mom gets there and chickens out on tower tof terror. Could she get the swap and just give it to us to use. She still has fast pass and just not using?

Yep... you and wife go then with son, grandma gets the pass cuz of baby. When you meet up, she gives you the pass and you, wife, son, go again. :) Grandma is doing double duty then watching the baby for 2 ridings.

You can even leverage Grandma's FastPass in here...

It's You... Wife... Grandma... 10.. 7... 2... right?

So if all 5 of you get a FP+ to TOT... I would take you-wife-10-7 via FP.

Grandma gets RS.

Then return, using the RS. It only gets 3 of you on... but, grandma's FP is still unspent, so actually all 4 of you could go again if you swap bands w her and swipe that, while wife-10-7 use the RS :)

sI found the rider swap for soaring takes way too much time out of our day.

Both times we did it each group took about 40-45 minutes.

All 4 people having FP to the same ride-- blecchh
have 2 people do soaring and 2 people do test track the other half will do that ride using the rider swap pass

Ok cool. Can the 2 additional be anyone with a fast pass in party?

with the rider swap you use that ticket and not a FP ticket-- using fast pass AND rider swap for the babysitter is wasting a FP choice.

Previously, when we went to get a rider swap pass, the whole party had to present their paper FP (before FP+) and then you got the swap ticket. Are you saying now that just the people riding first scan their bands and then they give the rest of you the rider swap ticket? So in theory, if you had a party of 4 plus the small child, 2 of you could get FP+ for one ride and 2 for another ride and be able to ride both with the switch passes? Can anyone confirm 100%?
