I'm still trying to buy my 55-200 lens. How do I know if it is a grey market lens? I'm sorry if this is a silly question but I don't want to buy something that wouldn't be good. Thanks again for your insight.

If it is a reputable camera store, it will state something like "import" or "no USA warranty" or something similar. They typically would not use the word grey market.

ukcatfan is right. If you check on the B&H Web site, they will specifically note whether the lens is "USA" or "Imported".

Here's the link to a search on the B&H Web site for your Nikon 55-200mm lens: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=nikon+55-200mm&N=0

Specifically, note the 5th and 6th search result. Those are your lenses. The 5th one says "Imported" and is $5 cheaper than the 6th one that says "USA".

Here's what B&H has to say about US vs. Imported / Grey Market items:

Items marked "USA" are imported and/or distributed by the manufacturer or the manufacturer's official licensed importer/distributor and are warranted by them. Items marked "IMP" are imported and/or distributed by other entities and are warranted by B&H Photo-Video. "IMP" products do not qualify for manufacturer's rebate programs. There is no difference in the item itself.

Hope that helps! :)
