Sorry... but tiki room's time may be up

Or....

....Maybe it's time for the other WDW guests to lighten up for 20 minutes and forget that they are adults and find entertainment in something that is not special effects laden, or invloves the use of pyrotechnics.

That is what WDW is all about. Not glitz and movie style effects. It is about animatronics, and light hearted , clean family style amusement.

I feel much more concerned that people no longer find enjoyment in the silly innocence of the Tiki Room and the cheesy jokes of the Jungle Cruise than that I do that these attractions are no longer fun.

Keep singing and bopping along. I fear one day WDW will take these classics away; replace them with high tech stuff like that found at Universal, and we'll all be missing it then.

I know I will.

I couldnt have said it better myself!

Walts original idea of audio-animatronics came from a mechanical bird he bought and kept in his office to admire. I was never fortunate enough to see the original Tiki Room and they bring it back one day. But til then I will still enjoy its latest version.

Bring back the old Tiki room and I'll be there singing and enjoying it. I don't care for the "under new management" version at all.
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::
They ruined it with Zazu and Iago, they're both great characters but they don't fit with the whole Tiki Room feel. They're too cartoony. The tiki room was all about real looking birds, coming alive and singing. I was surprised at how large they made Iago and Zazu, they're so HUGE compare to all the tiki birds.
Totally agree.

Bite your tongue!

I agree with EsmareldaX.

They're both corny but that is part of the fun. I don't mind the new version although I liked the old one better myself. I always sing along--even though most people don't.

I am always amazed when I ask people who took a trip to WDW about it and they don't know what it is, they just walk right by!

The Jungle Cruise is best at twilight or later. If you get the right guide, it's hysterical. :)

I like the storm and goddess in the Tiki Birds. Iago and Zasu don't do it for me though.

Now these are the threads I like, just good clean discussion on our favorite place (Disney)

All of the posts were right on and well said, as a Dad with young kids the Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise are favorites naturally.

Each ride has it's own unique pleasure.

Next time your at the Tiki Room look for the guy singing and bopping.

Thanks everyone

I never saw the TIki Room before it got the new managers. But I love it. And I dance, much to the embarassment of anyone around me. I also love the Jungle Cruise, and it is really great at night. The cornier the captain, the better. While others may disagree, I believe that Walt wouldn't mind the updating of things, he was a visionary, I doubt he ever thought that things should be the same forever. Disney Land changed a lot during his life. Who are we to say that he wouldn't like the changes?

Heck, if you are singing and bopping, I'll come sit with you. (My party gets embarrassed easily!!):p :teeth:

I miss the old Tiki routine. I LOVE the Jungle Cruise at night. When I'm at MK and it actually closes at night, I like to hit the Jungle Cruise before the fireworks. It's so great in the dark and seeing fireworks through the trees is an added treat.

Looks like I'll be trying out Jungle Cruise after dark this August. We had such a bad guide the last time that it was painful!!!

I love the Tiki Room. I always wished we checked it out sooner then we did. We went for a few years not knowing what we were missing. I will definitely try the Jungle Cruise at night next time.
