I've been reading posts on the dis and a travel site regarding hotels near Disneyland and it seems the more I read, the more undedcided I am. It's just for one night, but we have never been to Disneyland before, so I'd like to stay at a decent hotel/motel.

Just when I think I've picked the hotel, I read negative posts about the hotel that make me rethink my decision. I've been going back and forth with Howard Johnson, Fairfield Inn and the Carousel Inn.

A little about us:

It's just my DH and I planning on staying overnight for one night (04/27-04/28) - a side trip from Vegas since we have a ticket from GAD and some tickets from WDW that we can use. We're looking for some place that is nice and clean, that is within walking distance to Disnelyand and preferably with free parking. I've also read that some of the hotels will let you keep your car in the parking lot after you have checked out for the day. This would be a plus since we are planning on spending the day that we check out at the park and heading back to Vegas later that night.

Any suggestions or opinions would be really appreciated. TIA

Of your choices I have only stayed at the Fairfield. I stayed there for years, as a very nice, well kept hotel..then the price wars started..I then went to the Park Vue Inn..since then prices have also gone to be about the same as to the local hotels ( give or take a few bucks). As far as I know the FFI has a new parking fee. Not sure but I thought the Caurosel did as well. Go to Priceline and see what you see...give a bid... :) there are shuttles everywhere... :) :tink:

If its just the two of you then use Priceline. I made 14 trips in the past 14 months and used Priceline every time. Hotels I've gotten have been the Hilton, Red Lion, Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn. All for $40-$60 a night. Most of those do charge $10-$15 for parking but I figure that in to total nightly cost and come out way ahead of booking most any other way. These are all 3 to 3 1/2 star hotels and all were very nice at a bargain price.

There are a couple websites that give a pretty good idea of how much to bid and which hotel you'll get.

Howard Johnson, Fairfield Inn and the Carousel Inn

I have staid at Howard Johnson about six times and the Carousel twice. Carousel is the closer than the other 2 but they charge for parking now (I think $20 a night but I could be wrong about the price.) Carousel is fancier than HoJos but the beds are so nice at HoJo's (the rooms are larger too).

But my new favorite hotel is ParkVue. It's right across from the crosswalk and it has a free hot breakfast and free parking. The rooms were updated and clean also. When we go that's where we stay if they have rooms available. I like HoJos too but they don't have free breakfast and the walk is farther.

Hojos is the only place we ever stay and it meets all of your criteria: clean, walking distance, free parking and they will let you leave your car there after you check out. :thumbsup2
