Sorry another computer question!

My mom was on her computer today and a voice came on and said " You got company" then a door shut!!! what on earth could that be? She said that it's done it a couple of times, but Ive never heard it!

Any ideas?

Sounds like the instant message thing on aol

You have a list of 'friends' and the voice comes on when they log onto, and then again when they sign out, of their aol instant message bit

I haven't explained that very well at all have I?

If she was browseing the web it could of been a "Smiley Face" advert, there new smileys what speak and say weird things like "Hi,You've got mail" - It happened to me like every hour and then I realised it was just a advert lol...or it could be msn/aol/yahoo messanger

Oh cool, she was getting a bot freaked out by it! I might just sneakily turn the volume down on the computer - she won't realise it's doing it then!

It is instant message on AOL. It freaked me out when I first heard it - I though someone was hacking into my computer!

As another AOL user I can confirm it is the Instant Messenger audible alert she is hearing, no more, no less than that!

Yep that's the AOL woman alright. She scares the life out of me sometimes when it's all quiet in my house and I've accidentally left the volume up loud!!
