I started having a sore back a few months ago..Out of the blue. So bad it was, that I went to ER, and was diagnosed with a sprained spine, but on anti-inflammitories, the whole thing. It did get better, but often I had small pains. NOW, I am suffering here almost in tears..

DH says to me "Could this be period related" I never thought about that, and will NOW keep a log of when it is this intense. I can hardly bend over, sit, antyhing..I look like I ran a marathon. I am just trying to figure anything out....

I know we are not professionals, but any insight towards this would help...

So, my main question is, could this be something to do with ovaries, or something in that area? I used to have SUCH heavy periods, and had a laporopsic surgery for that, and it did get some better...

Thanks.

No clue, I do tend to get bachaches when I get my period, but they are just achy, not what you are describing.

Personally, I'm not so sure it's period related. Did they do x-rays at the hospital? Are you sure it was a sprain and not muscle strain? A sprain is an injury to a ligament(which connect bone to bone) and would take quite a while to heal. I would see a back specialist and maybe have them do an MRI to find out exactly what the injury is, then they can know the best way to treat it. Sometimes back injuries like a herniated disc heal on their own over a period of a few months, sometimes anti-inflammatories and physical therapy together can help, and sometimes surgery is needed (say if disc tissue was pressing on a nerve). If it's muscular in nature I would find a good massage therapist and have several sessions, and maybe chiropractic. But first things first, you need to find out exactly what the problem is. That's my 2cents. Do the anti-inflammatories help? If they do, keep taking them regularly for a couple weeks, not just when you're in pain.

Like the above poster, I agree with the spine issues. However, where is your pain? A lot may depend on that. I know that when I was having gall bladder attacks, I thought it was muscular back pain. Mine were very asymptomatic, it always felt like acute back pain. And, if it is muscular, I'm sure the muscle relaxers could help greatly. You definitely need to talk with your doctor to try to pin down the problem. Good luck on an answer.

Pain is VERY low in the back. I finished those anti inflammatories a long time ago. It did go away. Just comes back once in a while. Tonight is probably the worst ever. I breathe or move and it hurts.

I am sorry guys. Just having a rough night. Thanks for your thoughts.:grouphug:

I used to get a low back pain which I called "pelvic drag". It's hard to explain. It just hurt, not a sharp pain, but it was like a deep pressure and constant ( I've had herniated discs--this was different). The only thing that helpd was advil and heat--I learned to sleep on a heating pad.

I had surgery to remove what they thought was a small ovarian cyst--the dang thing was 6" across, like a huge water balloon:scared1: Well, and the uterine ablation. Once they got all that done, my "pelvic drag" went away.
