sore throat, headache, no other symptoms

Woke up with a sore throat this morning ...and a crazy headache that's on one side of my forhead/behind my eyes. Those are my ONLY symptoms. No fever, no body aches (which I usually get when I come down with strep)...no stuffy nose, coughing or anything like a cold.

I'm supposed to work in the kitchen at the school over lunch today and tomorrow, filling in for another lady (I am a sub there). I really hate it when people go in sick when they work in any sort of food service type of place, because food and bad germs DON'T mix!

We aren't even supposed to go into the kitchen/serving area if we have a bad cough/cold/ANYTHING! And they've followed those rules very well here!

So, do I suck it up, take some excedrin and go in and not say anything- or do I call in sick...like I said, no fever, no coughing, nothing more than a sore throat and headache.

I really don't know about this one- kind of 'on the fence' about it.

My kids have had strep with no fever.

that stinks! I thought for sure I'd know if I had strep- usually I've always been SUPER sick when I get it- I get it once or twice a year.

Maybe I should call in. There are several subs- hopefully one of them can come in. I just hate messing around when it comes to serving food to people.

DH and I have had the same thing. A nasty sore throat with no other symptoms. It lasted about a week and then went away. DD had a fever with no other symptoms. It lasted about 24 hours and went away. Crazy viruses.

Could be allergies. I've felt like that this week, since the weather warmed up. Otherwise I feel fine.

yeah, I never thought of allergies. Usually mine don't start until May here- we live in the mid west where there's still snow on the ground...who knows maybe they've started early this year. It's been raining for three days now here. Warming up quicker than normal I suppose.

Around here there have been a lot of cases of strep lately. My DD had it, then I got it, then my mother, and then DD's came back...none of us had a fever with it this time around.

I've called in 'sick' and made a Dr.s appointment. I figure 1 of 2 things will happen...

1) I have strep- I'll get antibiotics and be better before it gets worse

2) it's allergies and I need a scrip for my allergy med.s anyways.

I'm seeing my regular dr. (not with my better judgement, since they've had problems with loosing my charts and sending me a bill and 1 medical statement for someone else not even related to me)...but, after this, I do think I'll switch!

OK, it was allergies. Nothing too bad- just got a new scrip for my allergy medicine that I take every spring. Needed one anyways. I'm kind of mad that I called in sick! Oh, well...
