During our May 2018 trip over Memorial Day Weekend, we tried the Sorcerer's of the Kingdom game at Magic Kingdom. My son fell in love with it. I think we got 3 packs of cards, but only had time to play one round in Fantasyland. It told us to go to Adventureland next; however, we had Fastpasses to use and a lunch reservation and then we hopped over to Hollywood Studios. So, my question is, when we go back, do we just start back from Adventureland or go back to the start, get more cards and see where it takes us this time? We will be going back in October, and I am certain he will want to play again. Any idea on how many cards there are to collect?

You can stop back and get more cards (can get a new pack every day, actually). As long as you scan the MB that holds the "key", you will start right where you left off the last time.

Number of cards? A gazillion. Lol. I don't know the actual number, but it's a LOT. Plus, special cards get distributed during the holidays as well.

Yes, bring your old MagicBand or whatever key you used (to activate portals) and you can pick-up your old game. If not, when you go to register for a new game, ask them to start you in Adventureland and they will try to accommodate (if there are too many players active there they might suggest a different land).

There are 70 main cards, plus special cards from the Halloween and Christmas parties - new ones each year since 2012. Remember that you can get a pack of cards per ticket per day, though to get your new pack you have to have played a little bit since your last pickup. If you finish the entire game, you can get a bonus pack, plus continue at a higher difficulty level. They do sell sets in the stores that contain several cards, plus some instructions, and a mat to play the game at home (the cards can be used in a CCG style game for two). Some cards are more rare than others, and I think the purchased sets guarantee a couple of the less common cards.

Hmm, now I want to go back and fill the hole sin my SOTMK collection. Have fun!

the total pack is 60 cards (these are the ones you will get from the Fire Station. 10 rare cards that may or may not come in those packs and then they have given out special party cards from MNSSHP and MVMCP in the past years. You can also buy the cards at the Emporium, then you are guaranteed the rare cards, I believe is one rare card per pack you buy
ETA: I have 6 MNSSHP so I guess they started giving those 6 years ago :)

What I did a few years ago was use an old loose lief binder, and bought a few wallet size picture holders (I think I got them at the dollar store). We then populate the books (we had 4) with the cards in numerical order. Then I printed images of the cards that we were missing (I found a few at images.google.com). Two of the books were gifts for my nieces. They removed the printed ones and put in real ones as they collected them.

My kids love collecting the cards. We discovered the game this past holiday trip. On Christmas Day this year a CM surprised them with a stack (I think 36 packs?) of cards. We have them all needless to say, but several of the rare. Do you need the same magic band or just the same person to continue the game? We have several bands each.

You need whichever band or card was used as the "key" in your last game, which is to say whatever you used to open portals on the little keyhole symbol. They used to give an RFID card with a key on it before Magic Bands, but any RFID ticket media could work. The thing is it is not at all tied to your MDE account so it is not a matter of the account linked. It requires the exact same RFID device. Also, if it has been a while, you may not be able to continue since the game does get reset from time to time.

It must be the same actual band, not just the same person. We almost always forget to take a prior band and end up starting over each trip.

Whenever we left the game without finishing it we had to pick it up where we left off. But you can go to any Sorcerors game station, touch the exact same MB that you used in May, and it will tell you where to go next.

I need to remember what bands we attached the game to and bring them next time we go. I liked when they issued key cards instead.

You do need to have the same exact band that has the original game key on it, but the staff at the firehouse can switch it to a different band if you would like. I'll probably have to do that on my next trip, since my toddler son is upset that he isn't the one who is the designated "key master"! Lol

The old games do reportedly die off after a year or so. You can tag multiple cards/bands to the same game, and in fact I'd recommend doing that. If you have your whole party on the same game, and you all report in at the same time when you "level up", every one gets the extra pack of cards. So even if Mom & Dad don't want to play, add their bands to the game and then they can get the extra packs for the kids.

70 cards total unless things changed 61-70 you can only purchase in the booster packs if they even still sell them....Halloween and Christmas party exclusive cards were issued since 2012... I haven’t played in ages (at least since switching out the key ‘card’ for magic bands )however in order to pick up additional sets of cards on a different park day you had to activate your present game by playing at least one portal first

I’ll be there with my two boys who are quite competitive with each other. Is the game always the same or could they each play different versions? And if we stop at the station, would they both get the same set of cards or potentially different ones.

All packs are different. Good chance there are some cards in common from pack to pack, but they are randomly assorted.

Thanks so much for all the info! Couple extra questions.....does anyone know how much the packs are at the Emporium and about where in the store to find them? I am sure if my son knows this, he will want to purchase a pack or two.

I am assuming that you have to attend MNSSHP and MVMCP to get the special packs and not just be at the parks on those days? We are planning on going in October and December, but with an annual pass, we don't think we are going to attend the parties this year.

It's also good to know that they will switch the magic bands at the Fire Station because we just bought a special magic band in May after we used a regular one to start the game. I'll have to look into having his switched. I don't think we will want to carry around 2 all week.

Yes - you have to attend the parties to get the special MNSSHP and MVMCP cards (including showing your wristband, which the CM handing out the cards will mark so that each guest only gets one per party). For the parties, it's only one card - not a pack.

That said, however, it is possible to get party cards without going to the parties (or trying to buy them on the secondary market) - but you'll need a little luck or a lot of searching. Sometimes there's a CM in front of the firehouse with a SotMK binder who will trade cards (similar to pin trading). You might find a party card in there - and is a good way to get rid of duplicates from the random packs you get each day. Additionally, other CMs around the parks may carry cards and - if they see someone has cards - they may spread a little pixie dust and give them a "rare" card (along those lines, there is a literal "Cast Member" card that only CMs have and hand out). A couple of years ago, I was in line for a M&G at MK over Christmas and the CM running the line saw a family member going through their stack and just handed them one of the MNSSHP cards.

I got two of the Donald’s nephew Christmas cards leaving on a party night at the end of general public hours by waiting by emporium for my party and gifting a stack of doubles to a family of 5

Got the Minnie Halloween card leaving the park on a party night when I had my birthday pin on and had to promise not to sell it on eBay lol

The few others I was gifted by party going friends

Just to provide some clarification on number of cards and such.

Free cards are 1-60, these are available at the firehouse - 1 pack per day per guest. They have varying levels of rarity but regardless they are all free. Cards 61-70 are ONLY available in the packs that are purchased at the emporium or on shopdisney.com. If you are looking to collect those cards it is sometimes best to wait until the disney store has a promotion and get them discounted there - only problem is that buying 10 packs does not guarantee you that you'll get all 10 that you need so trading may be necessary. Trading is done in the parks and on facebook, just make sure the facebook group is credible. Finally they also have the limited edition party cards that are technically only available at the 2 parties, but after the last party they usually hand out the extra's like candy until they are gone. Current party cards or "P" cards are:
P1 - Chip and Dale
P2 - Wayne and Lanny
P3 - HM
P4 - Huey Duey and Louie
P5 - POC
P6 - Elsa
P7 - Minnie Mouse
P8 - Olaf
P9 - Clawhauser
P10 - Goofy
P11 - Country Bears
P12 - COP

The hard to get of these are from Pa-P5, after that they are generally available for trading a bit more easily.

just to add if you are interested in the party cards and are here in Orlando the day after the very last party (be it MNSSHP or MVMCP) the CM at the firehouse will have the left over ones and give them to people who ask for them specifically. That's how I have gotten most of the party ones, just show up the day after the last party and they have them...until they run out
