What is this exactly? Trying to figure out if this is something that DS10 would be interested in. He does like Pokemon, is it similar???

I won't be much help but my DS loved it. Basically he got cards and they interacted with the treasure hunt type places that he needed to find. He was 16 when he got to try it but has Asperger's so tends to be a bit immature. He spent the whole day at MK playing it by himself. We also had our DD who was only 2 at them time so he went off with his cell phone and only called when he got hungry. It was fun for him and something new since he has been going since he was 5.

Definitely give it a try if you have time. You don't have to dedicate all day. DS just chose to.

My 9 year old would have played it all day if we would have let her. I'm fairly sure it was her favorite part about Magic Kingdom. I am not sure what Pokemon is all about but what they do is go around and find the portals (based on a clue you get at the previous one) and 'defeat' a villain using the cards (each card has a character and they have their own 'power').

Funny you ask! I just googled it. I'd recommend you do that too. There are sites out there that are VERY detailed.

What age do you recommend this for?. when we go at xmas my ds will be 7 and my twin girls will be 5. Just wondering if the parks will be too busy at xmas for this too?

My DS was 8 and he LOVED this game. He found some other older boys who had notebooks full of cards who were giving him some they had duplicates of or were trading him.

Basically, you go to the place in town square and you sign up through your magic bands. You then get a packet of cards. There are about 5-6 cards in your deck and if everyone signs up, then one person can play and have many more cards. They are random packs. You are given a map and the areas of the park where these portals or magic windows are located. They tell you where you are headed from there. It is either Main St, Fantasyland, Adventureland or Frontierland.

You find a portal by also seeing a plaque on the ground. You scan your MB by a keyhole you see and then stand the plaque and you will see a video. You are fighting villians and casting spells by holding up various cards to cause certain damage. Everyone has a different random game and once you finish your first one in that land, it sends you somewhere else, so you can play as much as you want.

My 8 year old would have played it all day if we would have let him.

There are 3 levels of play...easy, medium and hard. The easy is SUPER easy, basically show a card when asked and move on. After about 10 windows or so, you get moved to medium where it gets a little harder. The cards have to react to the villain, it the player knows the movies he can guess who is the villain's enemy. Hard makes the player study how the cards affect the villain and tells them what next card is best.

The game will always allow the player to progress after a few windows, no worry about getting stuck and never advancing.

The fun part is getting cards and trading cards. However, each person can only get one pack of 5 cards a day and must play some windows in order to get more cards the next day there.
