Will the rising cost of gas cause you to postpone your trip? Cancel? Or make other changes? Recent announcements estimate the cost of gas this summer to $5.00 or more (depending on your state's fuel tax). My family and I will be at US (HR) for a week this summer and will go no matter the price of gas - but it could put a damper on our spending while there. Anyone else concerned?

We don't go until November, but I don't think it will change our plans. I'm hoping the prices will have gone back down by then! Have a great trip!

I don't expect we'll see $5 a gallon unless it's in the major cities, NY, LA, etc.

The high price of gas changed our plans in the opposite way. We had originally planned a theme park road trip with stops in PA, NJ, & OH. When our DS(14) decided he'd rather stay at the HRH & visit UO instead, we jumped on that one. :woohoo: We can drive to UO in 1 hr. & 15 min. :car: party:

Well, whatever the gas prices are, we will still go. We have quite a few financial obligations that we will need to deal with too...but with the gas prices being high, that does dig into whatever we will be spending while on vacation.

As my husband said to my kids, "We will live like rats until we go on vacation."

:confused3

Our trip is in 11 days and we are flying..sure glad I bought those plane tickets when I did. We had considered driving down, but even a few months it looked like gas would go up so we went ahead and booked the airline.

We did have a driving road trip to visit relatives in August, but we are cancelling that, it is just going to be too costly to go with high gas rates...:(

We're driving down in August and October. Even if gas hits $5 a gallon, it's still cheaper for us to drive when you factor in cost of airfare for 5 and car rental for two weeks each trip. That said, I'm glad that we have a 2005 Honda Civic that gets 37 mpg. We won't even consider taking our van because of the high gas prices and also because we're afraid it may strand us somewhere ;) We'll just have to scrimp in other areas to make up for the added cost.
